Cotton wicks not lasting long--is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?

Im in Buffalo for a wedding right now. My wife laughed at my vape Apocalypse kit:

2x 18650 batteries
2' 26g Nichrome
1x 1/16" drill bit
1x fingernail clipper
1x jewelers screwdriver
1x cotton ball

letting it soak over night, or even 30 mins sounds insane to me ><

I rebuild and fill and it soaks at max 30-60 seconds before I start vaping and have had no problems. I use cotton balls and just the tiniest bit of it to get through a microcoil. I don't get leaks or dry burns (unless my protank is completely empty). I actually end up burning off a wick when I want to replace it (so far I've only replaced when I decide to try a new coil setup, or if I want to change the flavor).

I used to let it soak... Found it to be a total waste of perfectly good vaping time. Now the only soak time it gets is as long as it takes me to put my cotton ball back in my battery case and put it in my pocket.

This has been my experience...if the wick is compressed at all, it's too tight.
I just drip some juice on the wick while the device is apart and it's good to go when assembled.
Cotton balls do wick better than any other cotton product I've tried.

If it's not sterile cotton you may want to boil and dry it first, but yes, regular cotton balls can be used. Just twist up a small wick and feed it through the coil.

I've even pulled the cotton off of the ends of Q-Tips and had great results.
