What are some of the side effects of PG intolerance? I have been vaping for about a month on the protanks and this morning i work up with a dry throat and a swollen gland. there could be a couple of things that can contribute to this:

1) tried rebuilding a coil with sterile cotton and realized that there might be some peroxide on it. took two vapes and really tasted awful. Could my symptoms be from this?
2) i have been vaping a good amount of 80%PG 20%VG and go through about 4ml a day,
3) Just got over a cold about two weeks ago and have been just vaping for almost 2 weeks not with no Analogs.

I have tried to research without making this post under the health section and cannot find anything.

I also have been hydrating as much as i can, vitamin C and all that good noise, Am i still going through tobacco withdraw this far along? Another side note, I thought i was allergic to VG as after three days i couldn't taste any vapors. After i tried other VG based vapors last week i still couldn't taste anything.

I went thru a bit of a sore throat for a couple of days 2 weeks ago. I figured I was vaping too much. Dialed it back a bit and gargled with some Listerine during the couple of days and it went away. Be sure and brush your teeth and gargle or rinse with some Listerine before retiring at night to get some of the residue PG/VG out of your mouth. And yes, you're body will go thru withdrawals for a while. There's a lot of stuff smoking does to you that your body is trying to work thru. Be patient and keep vaping!!

not sure about PG intolerance, but i do know that if you only recently (within the last month) stopped analogs, then there will be some side effects. mine was that i noticed my gums started bleeding badly and thought it was the vaping. what was really happening was i was getting better circulation in my gums since i stopped analogs. moral of this post, make sure any odd health issues aren't caused from quiting analogs, before changing up what you vape.

2 weeks with no analogs is great!! But not so very long that your body is still not repairing itself.

PG intolerance and allergic reaction/sensitivity go hand in hand. On the low end of the spectrum you can get a sore throat more easily than others, perhaps even itchiness or hives. On the more severe end, there can be extreme itchiness, rashes, difficulty breathing, etc. I haven't heard of any deaths from a PG allergy as most PG reactions occur from topical applications (Propylene Glycol is a common ingredient in lotions and perfumed).

Thing is, if you haven't noticed any adverse effects until a month into vaping, it's more likely that you are over-vaping the PG or have a cold, rather than having a specific intolerance to it.

I broke out in a severe rash on my face and throat from it along with a sore throat.

Um, yeah, rash is not good. You switched to 100% VG didn't you?

As for general sore throats this is what it says in Ryedan's link:

V1. Dry Throat, Sore Throat

Tobacco withdrawal produces a sore throat in some people. It is unknown why this occurs but perhaps cigarette smoke ingredients have some sort of preventative or anaesthetic effect, and stop the throat becoming sore during cigarette use, which it is easy to see could cause it.

Some - but by no means all - suffer from a dry throat, or even a sore throat, when starting to use an e-cigarette due to the drying-out effect of PG.

If a person suffers from both conditions: the tobacco withdrawal sore throat, and the e-cigarette new-user sore throat, then in rare cases a fiercely sore throat can result.

PG is a humectant (attracts, ie 'sucks out' water) and when vaping the back of the throat gets coated. You can find that after sleeping, you wake up with a sore throat. Things that can help are drinking a glass of water before bed, gargling with a mouthwash to cut the PG coating before bed, drinking water throughout the day, using hard candies and drinking liquids with honey liquid through the day to keep your mouth moist - especially if you are a new user.

An alternative for those who experience more throat dryness than normal is to change to a VG-based e-liquid, which normally solves the problem.
