Too many choices

Hi,

I've been vaping for about a year now. I've just had an Aspire Pockex (.6 coil) and Joyetech Penguin (.25 coil).

I'm looking to upgrade to a box to improve the experience, but there's so much choice. The kits I've been considering are:

Eleaf Pico 25 with Ello tank
Eleaf Pico 75w with Melo 3 tank
Eleaf iKuu I80 with Melo 4 tank
Smoktech AL85 with TFV8 Baby tank

What are your opinions?

Eleaf makes very reliable and versatile devices. I have eight of them.

There are many Eleaf owners here and you very rarely see a post from one having weird problems.

So you prefer a DL over mtl vape? That will determine the tank selection. As to the mod itself I'd pick the Pico 25 just because it can take a greater variety of tanks as it can accommodate the larger 25 mm tanks that are more popular these days.

The only device on your list that has an internal battery; like the pocketX and the Penguin, is the iKuu.
The other units require you to also purchase an external battery charger and quality, branded, removable batteries. (18650 size)

What features attracted you to the devices you listed?

If you are interested in temperature control, you should read or post in one of the Pico threads in the "APVs and MODS Discussion" area. If I recall correctly there are some problems with TC on SS Coils. Other then that Pico's are very popular.

I think it's all about the tank. Right now I'm liking the Eleaf GS Air coils. The only current mod I see (that takes that coil) is the Eleaf Kyia with GS Juni tank. But it is bottom fill tank if that makes a difference.

Everyone will have a different opinion but I would spend time reading/looking at tanks and coils. Buy a mod for the tank you want.

It's hard to say what you will like but I would suggest a box mod with a fair amount of power if you are unsure if you want MTL or more DL. That way, if you don't like the vape on the MTL tank you like, you merely need to buy a sub0hm tank to put on top. There are also some "crossover" tanks like the Crown3 Uwell which has lots of resistance coils, although sometimes with those tanks getting the airflow right and to your liking can be harder.

One thing to pay attention to is the kind of coils the tank uses. A lot of the tanks these days use dual coil units and they burn lots of juice. Great big clouds, if that's what you want, but they burn the juice.

I'd say go with the Eleaf Pico 75 watt and get the (original) Uwell Crown 1 tank with 0.5 ohm coils. The Pico 75 watt has enough power to grow with you. Don't get me started concerning SMOK products (just walk away).



I never bothered to "upgrade" to the Crown 2, 3, or Valarian. I have the mindset, "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it." I've seen too many "mixed" reviews for the later Crown tanks.

The Crown is an easy top fill design. Wide range of airflow that can adjust from a tighter MTL or wide open for a DTL draw. Coils last me at least 4 weeks. Has coils that range from 0.15 ohm (nickle for TC), and stainless steel in 0.25, 0.5, and 1.2 ohm.

I second the suggestion for the pico and uwell crown, although I think maybe the 25 would be better with the rising popularity of larger diameter tanks. I have that exact setup though, and it has performed flawlessly. I have had the pico for almost 2 years with zero issues. The crown i picked up more recently but so far it has been great. Only two mods I have or need and been using the same two for years is Eleaf/RDA.

The pico 25 kit is good. You might want to look at the eleaf Invoke kit. It has dual batteries and would increase your vape time over a one battery mod. Very small. Good luck in your choice.
