Too many ohms

Hello. I've been vaping for five years and am reasonably competent at building my own coils. I use a kangertech mini subox and regularly install 26 gauge twisted kanthal wire. I've recently ordered a new tank. Now I've tried many builds and coils on this new tank and whatever I use, including using decently working coils from other bases, it always runs at 9.9 ohms on this base whereas they'll run at 0.3 ohms on everything else. It worked fine for a week but whatever I do now, anything I put in to this base runs at 9.9 ohms and doesn't run the 0.3 ohms I desire. Any ideas?

If it's the RBA base you're building on (rather than rebuilding the SOCC heads or whatever the 'disposable' heads are called), then it's quite common for the pin in the bottom of it to become loose, making it have no connection (which is what the 9.9Ohms readout means).

You can tighten up the bottom pin by putting something like a thin screwdriver through the holes and levering it round to tighten it.

So, you think it's the *threads* on the RBA that are at fault? Why - are they loose, or crunchy - don't feel like they're making a good connection or what?

You should still try and tighten the bottom pin with the holes in it in that part, as I know from my own experience that they are prone to coming loose - it can't hurt to try...
