I vape mainly SVRF Refreshing and Satisfying juice so I made a copy cat of each @ 3mg nic @ 10ml qty and both have some issue.

I did a 50/50 mix but for whatever reason the throat hit is too intense. I like my vape smooth and not care for throat hit.

This is what my recipe calls for. What's wrong with me?

Sounds like too much PG. I had the same issue when I made and bought juice that was 50/50. I found the TH it was still too much for me when I made 60/40 ratio of VG to PG. I ended up raising the VG to 70 and no horrible TH. I think I might try a 65 VG next batch.

Hope that helps.

I would suggest, after giving it a thorough shake, to remove the cap and dripper top (if any), and allow the mixture to breathe for an hour or two (10mL shouldn't require any more). I don't know why, but many of TFA fruit flavors seem a bit harsh to me right after mixing. None of your flavor concentrates appear to contain alcohol but it may still help.

If that doesn't help, then you could look at using a small amount of ethyl maltol, TFA-Smooth, or FA MTS VapeWizard, which all can help to take of the "sharp"/harsh notes of mixes. Just use sparingly... one or two drops to 10mL should be plenty! Any more can start to mute/distort/muddy the intended flavor profile.:D

If you have tried the same brand of nic in other mixes with good results, it's not harshness due to nic. Could be you are developing a intolerance/allergy for PG. The other likely cause would be the setup your using is non compatible with the mix at the power setting your using. Might want to read through:

How many watts do you vape at?

As a last resort, I will sometimes use the following to "take the edge" off a already mixed recipe:
TFA Smooth Flavor
FA MTS Vape Wizard
Harshness can also be caused by your mix. Some mixes which contain Capsicum is often a harsh vape.

I would lessen the PG. If you know what ratio you were using before, that may help. But raising PG should reduce throat hit. If you find the nicotine too harsh, you could also try DIY with nic salts, they are very smooth, and don't deliver much throat hit. I use them as I don't like a throat hit, and many DIY vendors will send a sample for the cost of shipping. Additives could help as well, but it depends on how sensitive you are, etc. Also, steeping can smooth out mixes, generally, so that could be an option as well but I would probably start by lowering PG and go from there.

Best of luck, welcome to ECF>

so you're saying my above recipe is 30mg? Using Nicotine River 100mg/ml so 3% of 100 should be 3mg/ml.

I use Ejuice Me UP calculator and that's what it provided.

I also didn't realize I should leave the caps open... I've been mixing, shake then just tuck it away then every day I would shake it up a little more then put it a way. I did a 48 hour steep for this one. Is it too late to open it and let it sit now?

Nope, you can still steep it further. Honestly, unless you have tons of alcohols in your vape to evaporate off, you don't HAVE to steep with the top off a long period of time. I use distilled water in my mixes, so if I'm breathing them, it's usually for short periods of time. Leaving cap off for too long can also degrade the flavors a bit. Like everything, it's something of a tradeoff. Now that I am mixing steadily, I like to let my flavors steep at least a month, and so mix accordingly. I don't shake them every day, but every so often nor do I breathe them every day. Mainly, I just let time do its thing. Whatever you wind up doing, write it down so that you can see how you like what you did and have repeatable results.

Far as I'm concerned, nothing beats "time" for steeping, although there are tons of other methods, (ultrasonic cleaner, hot water bath (not scalding) mixers and agitators, and etc. But if you have time on your side (I do) there is no need for all that and I don't find that it would overall improve my experience, I just like to let nature take its course and 95% of the time, I am doing nothing other than let them sit, shaking occasionally (and vigorously).

Best of luck,

Anna

Your math is correct. A couple of the flavors can have a bit of harshness right off the shake. I would give it a week to steep and then try it. Some leave the cap off, some dont. Thats up to you. Personally I dont. I just give it time to meld. All flavors are made up of all kinds of chemicals. Some just take time to blend in.
