hey there im having some issues and before i buy another batch of ejuice i want to ask a couple questions. long story short i had ordered a disposible to give vaping a try.now the tase wasnt bad but the vapor production wasnt that great, so i got a 510 mini the vape was much better, but the variety of juices all had the same REALLY sweet undertone, that ruined the whole experience. so im trying to figure out what went wrong. the only difference i can come up with is that there may be too much vg as ive read that vg can have such an effect. but then forum members tell me im crazy. that vg has no taste at all. i love the idea of e cigs but hate the taste. this sucks

Hi jungletim. I can't tell you if VG has a sweet taste or not on it's own. I've never vaped it without a flavor added. Some vendors do add sweeteners to their juice, some don't, and some only on request. What are you vaping right now? I've tried dozens of juices until I just recently found my go to.

Hi JungleTim,

If you're talking about a touch of sweetness, VG does have a bit of that. Some tobacco flavors, like the Vapenstein line from Want2Vape.com don't have any noticeable sweetness at all. You might give them a shot.

If you're referring to an unnaturally sharp nutra-sweet/ saccharine like flavor, I share your pain. I am particularly sensitive to that kind of sweetner. I believe the culprit is the ingredient sucralose as e-liquids that use ethyl maltol as a sweetening agent do not trigger the 'yuck' factor for my taste buds. YMMV, of course. E-liquid preference is so individual because different people experience flavors in different ways. What I like, you may hate.

I have my mini review blog linked in my signature below this post. (I really need to update it. Not enough hours in the week, you know?) I write a lot about flavors that are IMO artificially chemically sweet. You can also check out my reviews in this section of ECF: E-Liquids I review almost everything I purchase with the hopes that this will help someone else who shares a flavor profile with me.

Many flavors that folks on ECF love are a no go for me because of the super chemical like sweetness. Assuming your tastes are the same, hopefully what I've written can same you some bucks and frustrations.

Another possibility that I've read here is that some people experience a load of sweetness on their tongue because they aren't drinking enough water. Remember to keep well hydrated as that can affect how you perceive flavor as well.

Good luck! :)

hey, im right there with ya on the flavor 'thing'! How long have you been vaping? about three months for me, and I have a whole shelf full of juices that taste like any combination of fruit, perfume, candy, flowers, soap, BLECH!!! DOUBLE BLECH 8-o
I finally just went with tobacco flavors from Backwoods Brew and have FINALLY been satisfied. I have to admit that I am afraid to try other vendors again  but someday I probably will. I have finally gone for that huge leap and started to add a little esspresso with my tobacco!

Hello and welcome jungletim!

Finding flavors can be quite a chore.
I've found some great ones but I've gone through quite a few already and have been through a few vendors as well.
I have a few that I know I will never buy from again just because no matter what the flavor I've tried from them it doesn't work for me for whatever reason. Like the bad sweetener flavor, or the chemical flavor, and even one vendor that no matter what flavor I've tried it feels like it's ripping up my throat (and not in a cigarette, or throat hit, kind of way. more like a tried to swallow a cheese grater kind of way lol)

Everyone makes theirs a little different, so if you aren't liking any liquids from one vendor definitely try another vendor!

I usually get 2 to 5 sample sizes from a vendor before making any large purchases. If I like any I will buy bigger bottles of those flavors and a few new samples. I've got a sample order right now on its way from Virgin Vapor, they are organically flavored eliquids, no artificial sweeteners so I'm hoping for good results there. So maybe try a vendor that claims outright that they don't use artificial sweetener.

I've had a few cafe mocha type flavors. None of them have been sweet and I usually like them. If you like coffee or mocha's I'd give them a try.

As for the vg, I like a bit added to the pg, like a 80%PG/20%VG mix, which most vendors have as an option.
I have read that some people don't tolerate pg or vg, like an allergy, depending on the person, so if you think the vg is a problem, maybe try just the pg and see if that helps, maybe try to add in a bit of vg after you have determined that the pg alone is ok to see if it is a vg intolerance.

Good luck to you! I hope you find what works for you quickly!

My favorite tobacco flavor is want2vape Vapenstein Blend Managua but keep in mind, I adored maduro cigars. Good tobacco notes, and no sweetness at all. I also dig http://want2vape.com/e-liquid/alcazar-cigar.html

Second up on tobacco like performance (although not really tobacco flavor) is https://www.cignot.com/category_s/27.htm ECOpure is a really clean vape, primarily flavored with ethyl maltol. This is a very slightly sweet flavor with loads and loads of vapor. At $1 per ml it is not for the faint of budget, but I swear it performs like no other. At worst, I have seen other reviewers state it tastes like nothing, which sometimes is better than the fake chemical flavors that are out there. I find it to be a clean, pleasant vape.

Third on my rotation is the ever popular Bobas Bounty which tastes exactly like raw honey tobacco. I can, and have, vaped this stuff for weeks on end as my all day every day and it never gets cloying or false. Pretty darn decent.

I also dig coffee flavors from Backwoods Brew, although I do not care for their tobaccos as they have too much sweet and nut element for me. My favorite is Espresso, but I like Cafe Mocha as well. Their Malty is almost a dead ringer for ECOpure, but at a much lower price. For whatever reason, coffee flavors tend to be a good cigarette replacement flavor for me. Must be the bite of the coffee tincture reminding me of the bite of a smoke. Fun fact, I don't drink coffee because I don't care for it, but I'll vape it all day long. Backwoods Brew has the best coffee flavors out there that I've tried. You can check them out at Backwoods Brew, but it looks like they are on vacation for awhile.

Hopefully this helps you out. Good luck! :)

ETA: I forgot to mention, missing out on the saccharine like flavor is hit or miss even with the same vendor. Perfect example, I really enjoy BWB's flavor, Malty. I absolutely can not stand the flavor Malty Toffee from the same vendor because of that artificially sweet flavor. Actually, I have found that every toffee flavor I've tried regardless of vendor has that unnatural twang which makes me wonder if the different vendors are purchasing the same toffee flavoring with sucralose in it. Who knows, though. Good luck getting a vendor to divulge that info to you as they see the specific ingredients list of their product as proprietary. When I've emailed asking about sucralose, I have been soundly ignored every time. You could always give it a shot, however. Maybe you'd get a better response from vendors about this topic.

yeah, VG is gonna give you a little sweet aftertaste, it does for me. Order your juices with 100% PG or for a touch more vapor 90% or 80% PG. My favorite is Tennessee Cured from Johnson Creek and it is 100%PG and tastes good but the vapor is just ok so I order a bottle of their Red Oak Tennessee Cured which is 100%VG and mix 'em together; that way I'll have the percentage I want, and the vapor amount and the taste. If you order from Johnson Creek and don't buy the Tennessee Cured, that tastes like a Black and Mild with butter and caramel, but they have some called JC Original that tastes like a plain Black and Mild. Tastes is subjective so you might think differently. Good luck.

Top Vapor liquids have their own unique taste. Johnson Creek has its own unique taste and it's nothing at all like Top Vapor. I haven't tried all juice vendors but I have tried a few and I have also made my own. What I can tell you is that every vendor that I have tried seems to have their own unique taste and all are different from those I make myself, so it's really a matter of trial and error and finding what you like. When I first tried the juice from Top Vapor, I really disliked them. They were completely different smelling and tasting than anything I had tried before. I was going to pour them out but decided against it and came back to them a month or so later and found that I did like them but they do have a distinct taste all their own.

I would say it's not so much the sweetener added but the vendor themselves and what their recipes consist of. That's my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

Definitely understand where you're coming from Tim, I've ordered several different "sweet" liquids from different vendors and have not liked most of them. However, just received my first "mod" in the mail yesterday and tried a French Vanilla 24mg from Madvapes (Topvapor) with organic sweetener last night, found it quite pleasing, I think it has something to do with the mod and more battery power. My favorite liquid so far is 555 24mg from Bloog, has a little sweet to it but not that overly "fake" sweetness that some e-liquids that I have sampled have.

I, also, feel your pain. Made my first juice order with a vendor for 5 sample bottles. One of them literally makes me sick. It has a nasty aftertaste that resembles charcoal or motor oil - hard to describe. The others are tolerable but not "good" - perfumey. Will never order from them again. Am going to drive tomorrow close to an hour to meet with another vendor to pick up some juice to ensure that I don't go back to analogs. I have another order that will arrive by mail toward the end of the week.

Can't wait to get this down so I stop wasting time and money but am happy that I've quit analogs :)
