HI everyone- this is my first post. I've been vaping for 21 months.
I have been trying new liquids ever since I started in an effort to narrow down my focus, and hopefully come across a few liquids that could rotate and be satisfied with. I enjoy certain blends of tobaccos and fruity vapes (together or on their own) - but NOTHING TOO SWEET! It seems that the majority of liquid I try , especially more recently, has been way too sweet for my tastes (sickeningly sweet cake-custard taste in so many non-desert vapes). I dont have the privilege of tasting stations (no local shops) - I have to take a blind chance, order online & pay international shipping. Could anyone point me in a semi-sweet direction?

Welcome! Yeah, that's tough not being able to test flavors. Certain things I'd recommend is trying to research which e juice lines use sweeteners, and if you're up to the small challenge DIY e juice, is great because you chose how you want your e juice to taste, how sweet you want it is in your control. Since some people might consider something sweet when others may not.

Hi, since you don't have any shops to try flavors at, the only place that I know of that will sell sample sz bottles of all their flavors is the Vapor Room. They have specials alot and they have tons of flavors of all kinds try looking them up on the web and reading through their descriptions before ordering. They (VR) also mix VG/PG and nic levels to suit you. Hope this helps :)

Thank you _ I'll give them a shot. Not necessarily tobacco - for example I have found a few tea/ black tea vapes that were perfectly balanced -not too sweet, and some crisp fruit vapes that I loved as well (like Nebula from Ben Jonson).

Hmmm semi-sweet vapes. Perhaps you're somehow getting juices that are overloaded with sweeteners? You can try CarpeDiemVapor.com some are sweet, but I think you'll find they are very adult vapes with a lot of depth and complexity.

Or are you looking for more of a tobacco taste?

I started out with a tobacco flavor and soon I wanted something sweeter, so I got a sweet tobacco flavor. It was too sweet and the first flavor was too "tobacco-y". I've been vaping a 50/50 mix of the two for a year now.

Moral of the story: try mixing some your flavors and see if you can cut the sweetness.

Thank you - I have been resorting to the same, and in the case of liquids that are too sweet and too strong...I generally use a little VG for dilution for now.
Still wish I could simplify things a bit.

I also do not like sweet flavors. Some of the tea flavors work out well. On fruit flavors pineapple seems to be fairly realistic from several suppliers. I'm in the process of switching to DIY, but Vaperite has a good Earl Grey Tea, a good Pineapple, and oddly enough their English Toffee doesn't seem sweet. I can't buy from them any more since they are switching to childproof bottles, but they are worth checking out. They also will let you combine sample sizes into your own sampler assortment.

Things I have had no luck with from any supplier are coffee (either sweet or just bad) and any cherry, melon, or plum flavors. Citrus flavors can be good, but should probably only be used in glass toppers. Plain vanilla doesn't seem to be too sweet usually.

VG is inherently sweet, so generally a higher PG ratio base is better. I prefer suppliers that let you choose the ratio, and I really don't think that any flavors are necessarily better at a particular ratio. Good luck, I can definitely sympathize with not liking sweet liquids.

Mixing you own juice is easier than you think and VERY cost effective. All you need is flavor, a carrier (VP, PG or VG/PG mix), empty 10 ml bottles and nic (if you still use it). Do a web search on how to DIY e-juice to familiarize yourself with the process. This forum has an excellent section. The get the materials. I would suggest that you go to Wizard Labs, they have a lot of different flavors from fruits to boiled beef, and get a few flavors to try. They are having a sale now where you can get a small quantity of concentrated flavor for less than $2 US. Good luck and don't be shy or scared...it is really easy.
