And... it was just as annoying as I thought it would be. The day my Volt gets here I'll likely never leave my flat with my Ego again.

I went outside to vape with the smokers because I didn't want even more of a reaction than I got vaping outside. A lot of people stopped me vaping to ask what it is then proceeded to make fun of it. No matter how much I stressed that it's not smoking, it's not a "cigarette" I'm "smoking" and that it's so much better for me, I was known as that stupid guy with the electric cigarette for the rest of the night. Didn't matter that I couldn't stand up for 15 minutes when I was on analogues and I'm now out for the entire night no problem thanks to ecigs, no one wanted to know anything about it other than to have a name for it to make fun of.

I'm out to vape to relax, not to have every single person in a 5 meter radius swarming me. Thankfully this was a small pub. I never ever want to take my ego out to a larger venue. I don't need the hassle.

The only upside is one person seemed genuinely interested and I had a vendor's business card on me and gave it to them and gave them a few reccommendations. Maybe they'll start vaping too. I don't really see it as worth the hassle because I knew them anyway and if I'd seen them anywhere else knowing they wanted to quit I'd have just told them about them then and there.

Never again.

Try going out with a mod! Then you get it a lot more. Personally though, I don't give a rats .... what others think... And it seems you do, you need to get over that hurdle. You do realize that non-smokers make fun of smokers, and the smokers are just happy to have someone to make fun of right? :) I take it you didn't smoke while at the pub? ...so mission success...

Never! lol. I don't think I'll ever buy a mod. The ego is big enough for me tbh.

It's not that I cared about what other people thought of me, it was that they were stopping me from my time to relax and get away from everyone for 5 minutes. I'm not that sociable that I can comfortably deal with 20+ people circled around me asking questions and wanting to see it. I see vaping as my private time. I'd sooner be left alone to enjoy it was the main problem.

Nah, I stopped smoking the second I opened the box to my first PV 6 months ago. I didn't feel like I needed a real cig the whole time even surrounded by smokers.

Who makes the Volt, link please and why would you want the Volt over the Ego? Just curious, I may have missed out on something :vapor:

Explaining e-cigs and alcohol don't mix. LOL

Maybe look at the positive side of all that attention.

You may have saved a few lives by planting the seed that there IS an alternative to smoking. I'd bet a few of those idiots that poked fun at you actually did a computer search on these the next day.

I heard good things about it and hope it gets here soon. Shipping to the UK, takes a while from the USA. I got white batteries with a red LED so I hope from a reasonable distance I don't get hassled about the black thing I'm smoking from. Even worse when one of my batteries had a clearo on it lol

Yeah, alcohol and trying to get anything through to anyone is just a no go. I'd sooner blend in and pretend to be a smoker in that situation.

I have taken my 510 to many, many bars around philly including the upscale and dive varieties. McGillans, Fergies Pub, Good Dog, Field House, National Mechanics...

All were receptive. I have found that puffing at my table is so much better. It is hard to make fun of someone doing something you can't (like enjoying nicotine indoors.)

I have NVC cards with the "Its not smoke, its vapor!" on the front and the ecig writeup on the back. Placing one on the table keeps the questions down. The worst I have had was one waitress who commented "ohhh, that's a funky one!" when she saw a clearo on it.

Find a place with less judgemental people or palm your pv so they dont see it so well.

@Leftfield..... grow some ...., let those smokers know you don't STINK, you don't burn things, and you are not endangering the lives of others with your second-hand vapor. Even smokers can tell when someone just had an analog, ewwww. Geez, I first started vaping in 2009, vaped right at the airport, on the plane, in restaurants, Walmart, Lowe's, etc. My first PVs looked like analogs, SmokeStik, and I was one of the first here to vape! PVs that look like analogs are a problem with most people. What is someone going to say about someone sucking on a fountain pen-looking object? No L.E.D. that looks like a lit end of an analog, wrong color container, and when I'm using my 4081 passthru, hooked up to my notebook, in a black bag.... no way they can confuse that with an analog! Actually, I think most people think it's some kind of medical device......

Look at yourself as a trend starter! Heck, I had many people laugh at me when I first started mixing white and yellow gold, back in the early 70's... now it's fashionable. Same thing happened when I use to cut off the neck of my sweatshirts, so it became an off the shoulder sweatshirt, also back in the 70's... All those people that laughed at me, are buying those types of items now! I'm the one who's laughing!!

Each one of those people that laughed at you, or made remarks, were probably on their computers the very next day, checking out PVs! Feel good about yourself, you just enlightened everyone who saw you!!! Take your Ego out, enjoy it!!

I say enjoy your eGo, and fuel your night of drinking off their sweet, sweet tears.

It could be jealousy, it could be a simple fear of the unknown, or it could be the alcohol making them want to harass anyone for anything. Either way don't let it bother you, I actually like to draw a bit of attention to it myself, let people try flavors that taste 1000 times better than any analogue, and while they're sucking tar I get sweet, delicious blueberry nicotine.
