A lot of people stopped me vaping to ask what it is then proceeded to make fun of it. No matter how much I stressed that it's not smoking, it's not a "cigarette" I'm "smoking" and that it's so much better for me, I was known as that stupid guy with the electric cigarette for the rest of the night.

Was it a pleasant summer evening, a nice evening to be smoking outdoors?

Had it been 45 degrees F. (maybe 7 degree C.) with a stiff wind and horizontal sleet, they would have gotten kind of religion about vaping instantly.

I've had people make fun of me. That usually stops around the point I say "went from spending $160/month on my addiction to $40/month." It amazes me that the health issue isn't always as important as the financial one. *facepalm*

It's been coming less often of late, though. Around here, a lot of people have been exposed to e-cigs via mall kiosks and paid advertisements. Now, I'm starting to get legitimate questions about them. I tell them where I got mine, since it's a decent starter.

I go dancing (country, two stepping) every weekend, at dancehalls where smoking is allowed.

I've been using my eGo the past two weekends. Nobody has hassled me at all. My friends are very supportive, regardless of whether they smoke or not, and other than friends, not many people say anything about it. A few have asked questions, but none have hassled me in any way.

I've also been sort of stealth vaping in restaurants. I try not to put out a lot of vapor, 'cause I don't want to look like I'm smoking, but other than that, I don't worry a lot about hiding it. I haven't had anyone say anything to me about it at all.

I use Bloog and I have black bats with a blue light--I don't want the reds. Was kind of a reverse of the main post for me last night... I went to an upscale hotel on CA's PB last night and vaped in the smoking section outside. My group asked a few questions and thought it was cool but the rest of the people were fine with it... Had many beers and went inside the hotel lobby bar and said screw it and just started vaping--no one hassled me at all or minded... Went to another bar... vaped inside the bar by the pool table and no one cared or said anything... Was very cool... But I would not recommend a red light and a real cig look unless you always plan to be in a smoking section... I'm sure a bartender or waitress can spot a red glow from a mile away...

One thing about attention and vaping that is cool is finding pretty company :). Load up your PV with some choc truffle and you can make friends with some cute people if you want...

Took my tornado out with me for the first time knowing id be with an old group of friends and likely drinking in pubs later. It's a little different since I was wit friends I guess, but all my smoking buddies wanted to know about it. Most gave it a try and all said: "I'm so getting me one of these!" so I pointed them all towards TW's site (they'll likely all of been too drunk to remember come the end, but still the seeds planted!). I have the red tornado so it really couldn't be mistaken for a cig at all I think. I had clear ego mega dual coils which are about as weird a device as you could imagine, smoking FSU maple waffles, everyone said how nice it smelt.

In the pub I quietly asked the bar tender if they didn't mind electronic cig smoking and he said that's fine. I never even needed to go outside to vape all night in the pub, that was great and my friends faces were just jaw dropped every time I took a puff!

So to my uk brothers and sister, if your ever down the west country way, find yourself in Plymouth: try voodoo lounge pub! They are vape friendly, and they play decent music too with Budwiser on tap! win win!

Vaping works very well for me when I'm drinking. I went out last night, smoked 1 cig over a 6 hour period while I was out, and that was the only time I ever really even thought about a cig. I'm still smoking 5-10 a day, so one in 6 hours is less than my norm, if anything.

That is pretty good. At least you cut back a bit though.

Sorry about your situation man but like everyone else said half of them probably looked it up the next day... I havent had that experience and most everyone who approaches me about it is interested and if I have a fresh cart ill let them try and then im giving out info on where I ordered them and what to get. Ive converted a couple at least, but I havent actually encountered anyone else vaping but I'll keep looking. Anyway Happy vaping

I go dancing once or twice a week. (Two stepping, country dancing.) Since Dallas won't let anyone smoke in bars, I've always gone to clubs in the suburbs where I could smoke.. But yesterday, a friend wanted me to go with her to Red River in Dallas, and I figured I'd try it with my eGo. I wasn't sure if they would let me use it or not.

For the first couple of hours, nobody said anything. Then some guy (bouncer? Bar-back?) came by and told me "You can't smoke in here". I told him "I'm not smoking". He repeated "You can't smoke in here". I told him "Look, it's not a cigarette, there is no tobacco, nothing is burning, I'm not smoking". He said "Go talk to the manager, he's the guy over there".

So I took my beer and my ego and went to talk to the manager. I didn't even have to explain it to him. I got there and said "The guy over there told me that I can't smoke, but I'm not smoking. He said to talk to you". He looked at the eGo I was holding and said "Oh, it's one of those, you're fine. Don't worry about it". I didn't even have to explain it to him. Never heard from the bouncer/bar-back again.

I didn't really need to take the beer with me, but I wanted him to be able to easily tell that I was drinking. Running a bar and chasing your drinkers off doesn't pay your bills, and in a dance hall, there are always people who don't drink, they just want to use the dance floor.
