I'm not the best cook... bless his heart. In fact, in the first few months we dated he asked me, "can you cook?" All I could think in my head was, "oh sh**". Good thing he's attracted to me.

My Mom was a killer cook. Of course I didn't know it growing up. I took it for granted. It wasn't until after I moved out that I knew she could cook. I never dated or married a woman who ever came close to what my Mom could do. And my Mom was considered a "dime a dozen" cook in her generation. I guess when you grow up poor it forces you to be a good cook. So anyway, not to get off topic, I vote my Mom as a Top Five Cook. RIP Mom.
My Mom was an awesome cook too, and HER Mom was even better. RIP both of them.

That is generally how it happens. The times that I have said goodbye to flavors was generally precipitated by an introduction to another vendors similar offering.
what is this vendor you speak of? I've been looking for a great tobacco flavor. So far Mom and pop Ry4V2 is my favorite

My late mom was a professional caterer for many years. She cooked for snooty high-society types and I would tag along to the parties to "help". One of her signature dishes was chicken Marengo in a hollowed-out brioche. It was especially handy for last-minute parties because she would pre-freeze portions of the chicken, and thaw them out as necessary. All she needed to do was assemble them into the brioches and it was an instant crowd pleaser.
Unfortunately, it also became default dinner for me when she was too busy to cook. I began to react to the word "Marengo" much as General Melas must have in his later years. God I loathed that stuff. I still haven't eaten it since.
Edited to add that Mom was the original scarf-ace. Most of my best vintage scarves are from her.
