Ok I was with my friend he's like it's easy watch me I watched him unspool some wire and make two coils he's like I would like a bigger burning surface and im like got a hammer I took a length of wire he cut it I don't make my own coils but am thinking about doing it any way I took a knight of wire and flattened it out with a small hammer then I told him your the pro wrap it around the pick like you would any other wire he did the whole time keeping the new flattened piece of wire flat that is and that's it he is boating and bragging how good it works and how evenly it heats it made a big smoke cloud to he's so amazed I figured if he liked it I'd tell you guys just try it take your wire lay it flat on a table and tap it with hammer till it's no longer round tap till it's more flat then round then coil it keeping it flat and let me know if it's better thanks guys hope this helps

It's called ribbon wire kanthal. Temco sells it. It made quite the splash last year when YouTubers started showing off "Bakuro" wire builds. A lot of money was made until people figured out it was just ribbon kanthal.

Your idea is a good one though. One of the problems with ribbon wire is it doesn't wrap around screw heads very well, so if one just flattened the area for the coil, you could leave the ends round.
