Trying to figure out what I am doing wrong with this carto tank setup. I have a ikenvape sr 510 fusion punch carto in a smoketech dct tank. I believe Im using a single coil tank but top of filler material(part I can see) looks to dry after awhile.

99.9% sure im priming the carto correctly. Have a 5ml bottle I use with a syringe needle tip. Besides a little from the punched holes im left with roughly 2.5ml of juice left. Everything was slushy and I let sit for awhile before vaping.

Any help would be appreciated. Really trying not to burn the inside or anything. I remember(in my earlier days) the vape being a little moist feeling while vaping. Not a bad vape now by any means.

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. I find it normal for the top of the filler to dry out fairly soon after priming and vaping for awhile. Also (FWIW) the last batch of Fusions I got in December had a problem with wicking; they'd work just fine after priming but never started wicking from the tank. I think I only had 2 good ones out of those 5. Never had a problem with the Platinums, though. Hope this helps. :)

I came here and made a thread about the EXACT same thing after I got my first carto tank.

Priming the carto is the most important step in producing a consistent and long lasting carto. I always thought I was doing something wrong at first, because it would take a few hours to break the carto in, and after 5+ hits or so, the top of the carto would be dry.

It is completely normal for the top of the carto to get dry. If you were to take it apart, you would see that the middle and bottom and still HIGHLY saturated.

Also, as I mentioned, it takes a bit to break in a fresh carto, for me at least. If you are worried about it drying out on top, do what I do, add a few drops to top off the carto whenever you feel like, just be sure not to flood the carto!

It is perfectly normal.

When you draw on the cartotank, juice is pulled not only from the tank, but from the top of the carto down to the bottom (where the heating coil is). As long as the filler around the heating coil stays wet, you have nothing to worry about.
