Hi there, I have a Panasonic battery and I've nicked the green wrap around it when pulling it out of the charger. Will the hole in the wrap cause any negative effect? Should I put a bit of LX tape over it?

E2A: the hole is about half way up the battery, slightly nearer the negative terminal.

If the battery has a lot of life left, remove the shrink wrap, order some 29mm-32mm shrink wrap (29mm is the perfect size but up to 32mm will work) and re-wrap it.

this^

electircal tape is a good suggestion too but im not versed in the varying degrees of electrial tape quality. personally, i have some 3M brand electrical tape on one of my AW 18490s and it works fine. i do try to use it only in my provari, but i use it in mechs from time to time. its been electrical taped for about a year now with zero issues.

however, my recommendation is to go with a battery wrap. Harbor Freight sells them for next to nothing. FT also stocks them for a very low price.

Are you guys seriously telling him to tape up his battery? I'm the last guy to argue anything on this site but how can you guys sit here and tell someone to friggin tape up a battery? So when he puts the battery in his mod and the the tape moves just enough one day to expose metal without him knowing causing big problems you guys are going to be ok with that? It's an $8 battery....

I have in the past taped up a battery but would never recommend someone else do it. I do it right by recovering it with shrink wrap. And yes I believe a perfectly good $8 battery is worth a few cents and a couple minutes of my time to salvage. Some wouldn't think so, but being a tightwad has saved me enough money to buy things, and do things my paycheck never could if I had the throwaway mentality most have these day's.

Electrical tape is fine folks.. It's 3.7 volts we're talking about. Yeah, they heat up a bit, but do you know how much tape is in the engine bay of your car? How much of it is very close to the engine and it's heat output? If the tape is checked from time to time, there will never be any issues. I'm glad other folks have money to throw away on things when they have a minor issue.... Maybe that's why the divorce rate is so high these days... Kids think everything is disposable.
