Hey everyone I'm heading to Hawaii for vacation in a couple days and am wanting to take my gear with me. What do I need to know/ do? I'm flying Hawaiian airlines. How to pack it? Carry on or checked? How much juice can I bring?, batteries? Please any help is much appreciated. I googled thiis but am finding stuff from 2014 and 15. I'd like to know how it is currently. Thanks everyone

There are several threads around here on it - but here's the key stuff:
1 - CARRYON. NO batteries in checked luggage for SURE - that's directly against TSA regs. But I'd reccommend everything in carryon.
2 - They pretty much know what a mod is - I've never even been questioned, carrying tubes and boxes that actually do look suspicious, lol.
3 - careful about tanks and liquid bottles - the air pressure change in flight WILL make something leak, so I'd baggie everything. At least.
4 - liquid limit applies. 4 oz total, I think? And 1 oz or less bottles? I forget. a couple 30 ml bottles is NO problem (except for the possibility of leaking...)
5 = Back to the batteries - PLEASE no loose batteries - put them in a battery box or something so they cannot touch anything else and short.

Have fun!

Train basically covered everything in detail.

Just don't be greedy and bring your entire mod collection along with 20 tanks and 20 bottles of juice you should be fine.

I would not check in anything (batterys are required to be in your carry on anyway). Make are u empty out the tanks before you fly.

Safe travels

I find it evidence that a nic addiction is nothing compared to a cig addiction, that I don't have any real trouble not vaping during flights - or during long business meetings, etc. Never get that desperation you'd get going that long without a cigarette.

And I vape a LOT - like chain vaping - a lot of the time.

I DO however hit my vape right before entering the airport, and I refill and puff up while waiting for checked luggage, lol.
I also pack a stealth vape, and have been known to take a few discrete puffs in an airport bathroom (airport - not airplane!) ...but only if I find I've got a wait that's long enough, but not long enough to get outside and back...

Don't forget a charger! Actually, my charger sometimes is the one thing in a checked bag.

All the information given here is wonderful help but go to the TSA and NTSB Websites for the most up to date and accurate information that you can print out and bring with you. I am not saying any information given is incorrect but if you want guaranteed rules get them in writing from the source. That is what I did for an upcoming trip across the country.

Few additions to @Train2's post...

6 - Don't vape in the plane.
7 - But if you do, do it in the toilets and don't blow your vape straight into the smokedetector, keep it inside your lungs a little longer than you normally would, then blow it out towards the ground.

Don't vape in the plane. PERIOD.

If you do you're risking a HUGE fine since the FAA banned vaping on planes last week. Maximum fine = $25,000. I can assure you that you don't want to be paying that.

Also be aware that in Hawaii vaping is banned everywhere that cigarettes are banned, including many beaches and parks. Also, ecig and juice sales are banned for anyone under 21 years old.

@Completely Average Totally agree on that! Just don't do it, sorry for my bad advice! As @Train2 mentioned above:

...nicotine addiction is nothing compared to cig-addiction.

I flew from Toronto Canada to Denver last week and it is indeed illegal to vape on a plane now. Not a smart idea to try.

I also had a SX Mini and a Provari mod in my carry on laptop case and both had full metal Nautilus tanks. There has a bit of juice in each. I also had 4 extra batteries in battery cases in my carry on. No issues at all. The X-ray guy knew exactly what they were. I packed extra juice (in a ziplock bag), a charger and coils in my toiletries bag in my checked suitcase. No problems, but a full bottle of juice will likely leak a bit. Bagging it is important.

From the TSA website regarding liquids on airplanes:

"You are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item. Placing these items in the small bag and separating from your carry-on baggage facilitates the screening process. Pack items that are in containers larger than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters in checked baggage."

I know for certain that there is no limit on how many small bottles (that are each 100mL or less) you can take onboard in a carry-on...as long as they all can fit in that 1 quart-sized baggie with any other liquids, creams, etc.. I've taken (2) 50mL juices or (3) 30mL juices in there easily with my other bottles of stuff. I just reduce any other liquids, creams, etc. that I'm taking...into smaller sized bottles as well. It also helps to not skimp on the thickness of your baggie, as far as how many mils thick it is. The stronger the better!
