Travel to Mexico with my e-stuff

Ok, I've read lots of threads on flying with gear, problems with leaking tanks, and possible issues with TSA. I'm flying from Toronto to Mexico (nonstop) in a few weeks and trying to figure out how to bring my stuff. Mexican customs agents scare me, I don't want to deal with having to 'explain' anything if I can avoid it, lol.

I planned to just dismantle my Triton, put the battery with empty clearos in its case, in my checked baggage. juice with other liquids in my toiletry case, also in checked bag. No bueno? I know people talk about keeping everything in your carry-on, but don't really say why. Is it a safety thing, or a holy crap what if they lose my luggage thing?

I'm thinking now instead of bringing bottles of e-juice, to just get some of the pre-filled Halo cartos so I don't have to bother with leaking liquids. But... would the pre-filled cartos with polyfill interiors leak with altitude changes the same way a normal tank would?

Carry on all your vape stuff, Ive never had a single strange look / question / problem traveling into or out of MX.
Do not put your batteries in checked luggage ---> Safe Travel with Batteries and Devices | Transportation Security Administration
Juice goes in quart size baggy with other liquids, no reason to not take bottles.

I empty tanks before flight, carto's may seep a drop or two but usually don't.
