HI,

Just rambling here I guess. I have had my mini 2.1 for about 2 months. I am on my third coil and I travel a lot. That's not much for 2 months.

When I fly, I have found the following characteristics:

Any tank mod leaks when pressurized. Period.

The REO does not leak when pressurized. Period.

Now, this week on Christmas road trip, took the REO and also a Itaste with a clear30 for backup. Went from Missouri to Denver. The REO just behaves and provides a great vape. The MVP leaked even from 1500 to 6000 ft. in a car due to pressure.

Tonight, I am fiddly f'ing around with the REO in the hotel and I decided to re-wick it. I ended up burning out the coil and I have NO rebuild stuff with me. I am now stuck with the MVP crap to get through 8 hours driving tomorrow. I am not super happy, but am glad to have a backup.

So I guess some minor rebuild tools, or more than one RM2 would be in order for traveling. This is the first failure I have ever had on my REO. If I was near home it would not have even been a problem.

On the other REO related notes, I recently determined that the REO really is the only thing going that works for me. I only have my mini 2.1 and I wanted a grand, so I picked up one in the classy's with a Nimbus on it...No idea, I will be checking it out, hopefully on monday and report.

When I was initially looking for a REO, I wanted the Mini 2.0 and then found they were discontinued. I also found one of them on the classy's and I couldn't help myself. I also ordered a high profile RM2 for it, because I can't figure out what other rba's would work for it and I really like the RM2 I have (LP one).

I am going to have a couple more REO's to post up soon. This is pretty much a waste of time post, but I have found the REO to be the most reliable vape and especially with a lot of altitude changes. I am now going to have a few to play with.

Does anyone have any suggestions on nimbus builds that work well?

OK. Merry Christmas to all and happy vaping!

Until later.

Interesting post. I carry a spare freshly rebuilt atty for my Reo's when I'm at work. Another idea is to have an identical Reo as backup, that way you have spare juice, spare battery, spare atty (and spare Reo). The minimum if you use cotton wick is spare cotton and preferably a spare pre-made coil, but that requires tools, something to trim the wick, and a screwdriver at minimum to change the coil, so a spare built atty is easier and gives a much quicker recovery time.

mousiemaximus, rambling allowed here! Wow, thirtyone posts in over five years! I am surprised you did not have more to say.

Just curious, what was the coil that burnt? I have change a coil or two on my Reos, but only because I wanted to. I do pulse burn/clean them with every cotton (KGD) wick change.

I was changing the wick and when dry burning, I smoked the actual coil. It was newish coil that I had built and it worked great, but it was a poor coil. I was just using my screwdriver, no drill bit measurements, but I ended up with only 4 turns on 28 ga to get to 1.2 ohms. I need to build my next coil a lot smaller. It wanted to walk around when I was pulling the wick out. I pulled the wick and messed with it because it was hot-legging visibly. Just a crap build on my part. I don't have much experience in making coils.

Reasoning for so few posts in so many years is that I vaped in 08/09 and found the equipment unsatisfactory. I went back to stinkies. I started vaping again a couple times in the years between, but only the last year or so did I see some of the new stuff and the actual working mods and good clouds and happy campers that made me want to re-explore it. I am still smoking, but I am trying to make vaping more satisfactory than smoking. I am getting pretty close too.

Thanks all for your helps.

Congrats, I do travel a lot and carry a little rebuild kit, but I also have two to three Reos with me all the time. Since switching to RxW, like Raynman, I only need to rebuild out of boredom.

Here's my travel kit

I throw an old hh.357 in my travel bag juuuuust in case.

The only issue I've ever had travelling with any amount of gear has been taking a grand through Canadian airport security. They are surprisingly unhip about vaping gear (and I've dealt with security in about 10 countries) and worry that it will produce a spark (and thus, be a threat on the plane). I actually take an ego battery along - something that they know - and sometimes demonstrate that the reo does the same thing as it

I've also taken to bringing 2 spare coils with me as added backup. They're small and slip easily into my phone/laptop/tablet cord baggie. Never had to use them on the road, thankfully, but I've got 'em if needed.

IMG_0740.jpgIMG_0741.jpgIMG_0743.jpgIf I could take a leatherman with me, I could also take a 357 :)

I think going forward I will want to have two REO's and I am good to go. Minimum I can go with an extra atty ready to go or some minor tool kit. My kit right now is juice, vatteries, clipper and cotton. I was just not prepared, nothing on the REO. As it turns out, I did that last coil on some questionable wire that came with a clone atty from ching chong. Gets what you pay for.

I did a build from 28 kanthal that I got from Rob with my 2.1 and I did a nice 6 wrap with a 1.0 ohm result. The last build with the unknown wire required only 4 turns to get to 1.2 or something and it was very wiggly/fragile to begin with. It was hard to wick the first time and it fell apart on the second. Here's the latest vbuild that is working fantastically right now:

thanks all. I am going to be doing some douvble coils coming up this week and have a nimbus and a nuppin coming in. It should be entertaining to see me play with these.

So heres the pics - I used the silicon wicks on this one, wrapped on a 1/16 allen driver.

Thanks all.
