I feel ya kid, I'm a white knuckle flyer too...and yet I'm not afraid of heights...odd

LMAO! Me either..no fear of heights! Love roller coasters, no fear of elevators, skiing on high Colorado mountains..u name it, I'm cool.

Just planes, pilots who are tired or hungover, mechanics who may cut corners, air traffic controllers taking naps or clouds, rain, snow, lightening, air pockets, turbulence..pretty much anything to do w/flying! Or maybe it's a control thing, a little or a lot.

former USAF here....my only hatred of flying is not being at the controls myself. errytime the plane lands (especially at windy airports like Las Vegas) you can tell who the AF pilots are with smooth landings and who the naval pilots are that just let the plane drop onto the runway like heathens.

but thats prolly best for erryone....i'd be taking 747's into barrel rolls! my older brother is deathly afraid of heights.....for some reason he'll fly with my near blind uncle before he'll fly with me. go figure. :2cool:

LOL...BINGO!!! I've been told it's a control thing cos I get the same feeling (just to lesser degrees) riding in a car, bus, or train...in other words, something where I'm not at the helm. I went to a doc once cos I had to fly so they gave me some anxiety pills and at the doc told me it's a control issue....apparently I have issues

before i got into the cockpit, i'd take about 10 Oxycontin's and wash them down with vodka and turpentine. you know, just to take the edge off.

worked almost every time!

By the way kids I got my winning bottle of Freedom Juice yesterday and guess who has another favorite flavor in a tank?

It's home steeping right now...it's awesome!!!

Thank you once again Cindah/Halo :)

I also am waiting on an order I placed over the weekend couple 30ml bottles and 2 samples to wrap up all the Halo flavors (Captain Jack & HX3). I will soon have tried every flavor Halo makes and have yet to try one that I thought was gross (steeped or not).

Ok, hate to admit it, I've been starting my daily ritual of watching the weather reports. And have had a few anxiety attacks in the evenings. NO..I never have anxiety attacks until I'm about to fly, it's that bad.

I was never afraid to fly until two back to back HORRIBLE flights from Paradise Island Bahamas to Miami. Both times prop planes w/a curtain for the cockpit door. Like maybe 15 passengers if that. Both times got caught in storms..lightening..wind, rain...over the ocean..I'm freaking thinking about it. Ever since then, I have a horrible fear.

I'm only 114 lbs and I have to take 2 mg..TWO not 0.2 ,but 2.0 mg of Xanex and it does hardly nothing to me until I land. Then I'm in lala land and miss my whole entire first day of vaca knocked out cold. UUGGGHHHHH!!!! Weird tho, I'm not afraid to fly in helicopters just planes of any kind and I haven't done a prop plane since those two trips which was about 21 yrs ago.

That's sad, really.

I've been on a few prop planes, and yeah, it always gets kinda hairy at times. They're sh%$@y flyers and pilots hate them as much as everyone else.

The weird part is that the engines are just as reliable as those of a jetliner. The main difference is that you're a lot more subject to turbulence. Anyone who's flown long enough on those has seen things that no one should see; sudden banks/rolls, jarring that tosses things up in the air, etc.

But overall, they're still incredibly durable, and safe. Maybe not comfortable, especially with those engines buzzing next to you for hours, but definitely safe.

Tip: if you ever have to fly one again, pick one with a top wing; they're more stable, and bring noise cancelling headphones (the pilots do).

The small business jets are just a dream, compared to those. Canadair or Embraer, it doesn't matter; very smooth flight, roomy, quiet, and most passengers don't bother the stewardess (there's only one), so she/he can accommodate any special needs, like extra alcohol ;) .

I remember flying one of those... My then-fiancee was flying up from Houston (I was living in Montreal at the time) and she got stuck in Toronto, on a Friday evening, so I hopped on the next flight to Toronto to pick her up, and we flew back to Montreal on the last flight of the day (she got drunk on the plane :D ).

i was a tad too reckless of a pilot to ever be considered for the Thunderbirds...or NASA....or JSF....or the UN....actually...the only tasks force i ever got on a regular basis were NATO ones...they seemed to enjoy my squadron's style, but they are a surprisingly violent lot. i mean...there is something seriously wrong with some NATO enforcers. and thats comming from me...we all know there is something wrong with me!

Well regardless, you flew one of the coolest machines made by man and I can only imagine what it's like tear a$$ing across the sky in something like that. And you put your .... on the line for us so I tip my hat to you sir and anyone else who served :)

By the way, the fact that you were a military pilot totally explains the quick witted posts.
