A coil-master for starters.....:)

They work great, build coils like a pro without being a pro.

If you want to get fancy, I suggest buying the Coil-Master Kit...V3

I'm hooked on drippers too...fantastic flavor.

Bottom feeders are the way to go...simple solution not dripping continually.

yeah - and the v3 coilmaster is actually an upgrade/ improvement - about $25 from their site - well worth it...

keep in mind, depending on the type/ ohmage of builds you are looking for, you can get prebuilt coils and just work on learning to install/ tweak them for starters... ohm reader of some sort is a must

great info here on site, some really good vids on youtube (depending on your specific atty, you will likely find builds/ tricks/ tips for that particular atty also)

Grimm Green on YouTube in the last couple weeks posted a new vid on making simple micro coils. Having all the tools is great but more importantly you will need to know how to build safely. Battery safety and a working understanding of Ohms Law are musts. Good Luck. By the way, I drip and own around a dozen RDAs just to let you know what I say is true.

And now am completely hooked. Guess I'd better learn to build! Any good recommendations for starters?
Second ing all the recommendations for a coil master. It's pretty cheap, and you don't have to be awesome at coils to make em look and vape great. Check out steam engine to check for resistances, make sure your planned build will vape well and that it's safe. There's a lot of stuff there, but it's all worthwhile.
Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

Get a multimeter or ohmmeter. Steam engine doesn't predict shorts. Don't want you being unsafe or frying your nice new mods. Best of luck to you, and welcome to the club!

I enjoy building and end up just making builds and replacing them way to often. Here is a few of the things you could use. A set of pliers would also be needed.

Wire - 24 gauge kanthal I got recently from Amazon
100ft Kanthal 24 Gauge A1 Resistance Wire Roll .51mm, 2.04 Ohms/ft - - Amazon.com

Cotton I ordered earlier this year that will last forever -
Amazon.com : Cotton Labo ORGANIC Cotton Puff Size M (200pc) : Cotton Balls : Beauty

Screwdrivers for wrapping coils and working with your rda -
Stanley 66-039 6-Piece Jewelers Precision Screwdriver Set - Mini Screwdriver Set - Amazon.com

Ohm reader -
Digital Volt Ohm Reader Meter Multimeter, Rechargeable Micro Portable Voltmeter Ohmmeter Tester Red LED display Module DC 0-12V 0-20Ω Voltage Resistance Detector Gauge - - Amazon.com

I am a flavor chaser. I have found that different brands of wire give you a slight difference in resistance. Currently I have found a twisted double 28G or triple 30G Alienwire to give me best flavor. Using 454 Big Block RDA, vertical coil, 7 wraps, 2mm diameter, 0.8ohm on a mech mod with LG 18650 HE4, Cuttwood Boss Reserve/Unicorn Milk e-juice.
Try to find a balance in the number of wraps to get enough surface on the wire with your target resistance. I find 0.8ohms to be almost perfect for a mech mod. Also adding or reducing a wrap and smaller or larger inner coil diameter makes a large difference in flavor.
I suggest trying to get the resistance you like then work at either a smaller or larger gauge wire and wrapping it to get the right amount of surface on the coil. I find myself only working with 2mm and 2.4mm inner diameters. I prefer the 2mm inner diameter, but if you are using a small chamber RDA such as a derringer sometimes you can work with 2.4mm (depending on juice) to get a smoother vape. I find a larger diameter tones down the flavor.
Your wicking also plays an important role. It has to be just right. Too tight it will choke, too loose it will not produce sufficient vapor. Make sure its snug, there should be a little resistance when you tug at it.
Dont be afraid to waste wires during your first few weeks. Have fun and happy vaping!
