Thank you everyone! I ordered a mini pro tank 2 in the end and some menthol e-liquid. She wasn't keen on the fruit flavours, but I suspect that will change soon. I am keeping it very simple for now; if she is happy with the mini pro tank 2, then I will upgrade to something in the future :)

Mini-PTs and EVODS are the only two ego-threaded tanks I use and I love them both. But I personally recommend EVOD over the PTs to new vapers. EVOD tanks are lighter (weight wise), easier to clean, tend to leak less, and cannot break (ie more portable). To me EVOD is a menthol tank because of the airy draw and the drip tip size is a tad wider. You could buy her a single EVOD tank to go with starter kit; they are super cheap and use the same heads as the PTs. You might not want to go that route, but its a thought.

I can't speak about the PT's because I don't have them, precisely because I've seen posts about leaking problems. I don't want to fiddle with my tanks if I don't have to. Also, since I'm retired, cost is a factor, and the Evods and coils for them are very inexpensive.

I've had super good luck with my Evods. They came with my starter ego kit, and I've ordered more and use them with my new MVP 2. I get very good flavor, vapor and they are pretty trouble free.

I've had just the opposite experiance. My evods want to leak and my protank 2 mini's don't leak. Odd in it's self because they both use the same coil.

OP, if you get a EVOD tank get the glass one. I think menthol is considered a tank cracker.

There are several different eVOD tanks; I'm talking about these . Technically both can leak but the these tanks have a good reputation of being almost hassle free and I have about ten of them. Everyone's mileage varies however.

Menthol is not a tank cracker. Citrus and cinnamon flavors are two common crackers. Even if a juice falls in the citrus category it may not be a tank cracker; it depends on how diluted the citrus is. Ditto with cinnamon flavors. However, something called Fireball may crack or melt the tank.

I have my preference but both are fine tanks.

They are the best bang for your buck and perform well. All the vape shops around recommend these tanks to beginners as well. I've been vaping for some time and I still love them, so you get your money's worth (same with Protank). Although its true that some juices may crack a tank, I personally think the "juice cracker thing" is a little over stated. It's just my opinion. No flames please. LOL.

That is not to knock the Protanks (I have six of them). I just wanted to express the EVOD love, since most people mentioned the Protanks.

Mom should be happy with either and that's what really counts.
