Hey Chinnok, sorry I was absent yesterday... had to kick TWC to the curb and get DishTV in here to do an install.

Sorry to hear about the rubbery taste persisting there!

Today I had better luck. I filled up two of the newer tanks. One of the tanks and its coil had the rubbery taste yesterday. I noticed that its coil had two wraps touching or almost touching. After PGA and filtered water soaks, dry burning the coil and adjusting the wraps with a thin paper clip wire, I put the tank together. The vape was better, no rubber! But the taste was kind of dim, and I think that's due to the juice probably needing more time to steep.

Fantastic news and better still since it's still working today! Congrats!!

I'm relatively new so I might be confusing the terminology here. What I meant as an RBA I meant something like this :

The Russian 91% Atomizer RBA - Viper Vape Inc

I think you don't have to buy any heads for this... You just need the wire and wick.

I am also fairly new to all this and never looked closely at setups like that (I think it's like "the Gennies" or Genesis devices), b/c they are out of my price range. :D I tried to enlarge the pic with all the parts disassembled and it looks like there might be grommets in that device too, but I couldn't tell if they were rubber or what. For a $104 device, they better be at least silicone! :D

There are clones similar to this one...

That, I might consider, (and did briefly when I was looking into ceramic wicks awhile back). Though right now I am leaning towards something like the Aurora BFF which is a dripper but with a juice bottle built in. Vision Aurora BFT NEW- Bottom Fed Tank Top Atomizer Kit - BLACK [gv-AuroraBFT-BLACK] - $25.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more It got raving reviews, but looks a little top-heavy and awkward.

I think you need to buy heads right with your setup?

Yup. Well, with the tanks I do. (Aro pyrex tanks and a Protank 2.) I also have a dripper though, and drippers do not have heads, you just drip right on to the coil. I have an IGO-L clone from FastTech - only cost $7. https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10005100/1400500-igo-l-rebuildable-stainless-steel-dripping Had to drill out the airhole a bit but I love that dripper.... when all else fails, it's always there. I have a micro-coil in it (the dual coils it comes with are cr@p) and I can just pull out my used cotton wick, dry burn the coil clean, and put a new cotton wick in. Great flavor and vapor. And no rubber parts, except the o-ring sealing the base to the top. Nice deep well to hold plenty of juice too. Don't have to drip as often.

Regarding wicks, I read that some people are using ceramic wick too. Lot of stuff to experiment :)

Yep... that's why the Genny type devices.... can't put a ceramic wick in a head (yet) as apparently they break too easy and aren't designed for that.

From now on, I will be manually adjusting the wraps of the coils on my Triton heads! I guess as long as the insulator itself is OK, that'll hopefully prevent the rubber syndrome.

I hope you can find better insulators for your setup.

So glad to hear your problem has been fixed!! I'm sure I'll find a way around mine too. Have not had time to mess with it the last couple days....

Vape on! :vapor: :D

PS On the off-chance anyone sees the link to the IGO-L dripper at FastTech and decides to give it a whirl, note that I had a HECK of a time getting the top off the base... almost could not get it off. Then I read the reviews (at FT) and one person said they removed one of the two o-rings on the base so the top comes off easier. HALLELUJAH! That worked. Something helpful to keep in mind for that device! :D

Trayce, thanks for the links. At this time stuff like the Russian is pretty expensive for me too. People say it's like dripping kind of flavor but with a tank... There are similar clones to Kayfun which are only about $20-30 at Fasttech. But I don't know how they perform.

That Aurora BFF looks looks interesting too. So with this you get dripper quality vape but you can continuously feed it with squeezing the juice in the reservoir, right?

Well for now, it looks like I'm OK. I'm assuming that the rubber in the coils are OK but the coil wraps were a problem. Hope you can find a solution there too. At least you have your dripper set up; at least you can stay sane :)

Not a bad price... but all these little baubles add up, don't they? :) I have to put a hold on the spending for the time being, but am going to go track a couple of those down while thinking of it and bookmark those FT pages with the other FT pages I have bookmarked. :D

Righto.

Yes, I have a painless way to vape so I won't go hungry. :D But I do miss my tanks. Haven't had any time to play with this the last couple days though... or maybe I'm subconsciously taking a break so the grommets will have a change of heart before I revisit. :)

It's been a pleasure chatting! Glad you got everything worked out and if I find a solution to my issue I will post it here for any other readers who might be having a similar problem that it could possibly help.

Take care -
