Tropical Vapors is Going Out of Business

After over two years of being in business, we have decided to pack it in and close the store.

The regulatory environment is just becoming more than we want to deal with. Jurisdictions across the country are proposing and passing laws targeted at vaping, that frankly we don't have the resources or the desire to keep up with.

The final straw was when the state of Ohio proposed a new excise tax (45%) on anything that is vaping related. Since the tax is based on wholesale price and not retail price it would be a nightmare to implement and monitor compliance.

Now this tax may not pass as fast or even at all as the governor would like (he's using it to help fund a state income tax DECREASE so he can get re-elected), this IS going to happen somewhere. And we are an online-only business, responsible for obeying whatever laws are applicable in the places where we sell in to. The complexity of applying these types of taxes correctly, keeping the appropriate records for the tax man (or woman) and filing and paying the taxes across multiple jurisdictions is mind boggling. Also, we will have to try to compete with vendors that are either not subject to the tax or those that choose to ignore it.

Many people have speculated that we are folding because of the recent announcements by the FDA. While the timing was coincidental, this really came about after a meeting I attended with a few of the Ohio vape stores and a lobbyist to strategize how to fight the Ohio proposal. It became apparent to me that this is not just a one off battle but it is going to go on and on.

We believe in this industry and hope that the powers that be don't do anything to make it too difficult or expensive for you all to keep vaping.

These are great clearomizers . Nice capacity, a great tasting vape, lots of vapor and unlike most clearomizers you get a good throat hit. The only thing you have to watch is to be sure that the coils and wicks are heavily saturated with e-liquid, before you start to use them.

And the coils are replaceable so you can really save money in the long run.

If you like top feed clearomizes, the T2 is the one for you. We have them with the shorter wicks and the long wicks in a variety of colors and resistances. For the replacement coils, we are just carrying the long wick version as if you want a shorter wick, it is easy to trim them.
