Trouble with Carto in tanks

Hi all Got a bunch of Kanger H coil cartos for my tanks. They are painted black so first step was to scrape and buff all the paint off. Then the problems started. No matter how I punched, drilled or cut it they would not wick in any of my tanks. I tried 2 then 3 holes. Then cut on both sides with dremmel.
Has anyone had success with these in a tank and if you have what was your secret. Thanks in advance

Those black Kanger like you mentioned are painted on fits perfectly for me. So no need to scrape it off. I use to do slits with a dremel but I found that it's a hit and miss with wicking. The best for me is punching the carto.

Thanks I was worried about the paint coming off sitting in the juice. Would be a lot easier if I could leave it on. Do you use 1 or two holes in the carto

Two holes are always better than one!
