Trouble with EGO-T System and 510 accesories

:(Let me start off by saying my active lifestyle and the fact that I drive A LOT does not allow me to drip ----- I bought the EGO a month ago and liked it pretty well but still had all the problems that go along with the 510. Cartomizers fouling out fast, and when using an atomizer having to constantly top off the cartridge with about 3 drops before the vaping gets poor. So I jumped at the EGO-Tank thinking finally here was a consistant method. The tank worked great AT FIRST. But the atomizers deterioated after about 4 days each. Both responded to cleaning but never vaped the fantastic way in which they did when new. I just want something that's reliable!!! I'm not in to making this a hobby - Just economical vaping instead of smoking. I saw all the clening methods for the EGO-T atomizers and tried isopropyl and boiling water methods but non of my atomizers ever worked the same. Tonight I ordered 3 more EGO-T atomizers and will try again but my wife is getting on to me about spending so much on all of this. I'm tempted to try the regular atomizers with Blue Foam as that's one thing I haven't tried. Bottom line I'm asking all of you to give me your input on how to use my EGO economically and get a nice vape day in and out without all of the money and time I'm using to enjoy vaping. When ever I use a BRAND NEW cart or EGO-T atomizer and cartridge things are GREAT. But it's EXPENSIVE - HELP !!! :(

I have an ego-t as well. I've had mine close to two weeks but the atomizers are steadily declining. I have 4. I've been using 2 each day. Setting up one as a drip back-up and one as a regular tank. Blowing the others clear and letting them air out for 24 hours. This seems less destructive than the boiling/alcohol treatment which i tired with far too many 510 and 306 atomizers with very poor success.
i'll say this you are fortunate to have found the ego battery early in you search (i wasted the first couple of months on the battery race until at last a simple reliable mass produced battery that works pretty close to all day.)

The hunt for a durable atomizer is fundamentally elusive--hence the cartomizer. I'm about to go on a cartomizer shopping spree myself. I think the truth is if you have high standards and high consumption levels this is not a cheap money saving alternative to smoking. If i can get two weeks out of the Tank atomizers, get this leaking problem beaten back and find a reliable in stock supplier i will be almost down to the amt i was spending on analogs--but realistically i know a new system or a new gizmo will come out--or i will break down and buy a $150 mod and be back in the hole on the money front.

BUT i consider it money well spent if it keeps me away from analogs and if i can get stabilized i am going to contemplate (not committed yet) quitting PVs as well.

I would suggest trying some lr 510 XL cartos. They are much more affordable than tanks and seem to work quite a bit better than the regular 510 cartos. The lower resistance along with the larger capacity for juice is nice and with a little reading you may be able to fashion your own MAP tank using them once their performance decreases. One of my co-workers was at his wits end with the ego until I passed him the XL's and so far he hasn't had anything bad to say. Of course, theres a whole world of great mods out there but until you settle on your method (i.e. dripping, cartos, tanks etc.) most won't satisfy any more than an ego.

If you can get a week on an ego-t atty the cost would be about 15 bucks. One pack of smokes here in ny cost about 10 bucks. So really what is the big deal. With that being said I vape on on atty for the day blow it out 3 times from battery end at the end of the day and then let air dry on a paper towel for 24 hours and use another atty the next day. Then I go through the routine all over again

IF i could get a week out of them ( I have 4 2 aren't much good any more--one still works and one leaks badly) had em for 2 weeks.

i actually use the same method at the end of the day--FYI cigs are still $5-6 here in CA. if the tank were truly reliable and i knew i just had to buy a new atty a week i might be able to live with it (got some for $10.99 at volcanocigs with a discount code) but they seem less reliable so far than the 510 janty official atomizer (which i used for a month or so) and not even as good as cheap generics ($5-6) i bought god knows where (which did usually last about a week) --plus perhaps due to bad luck or my vaping style and juice preferences i am getting a lot of leaking and flooding which makes me peeved at the cost...like i said if it worked the way id did the first 2 days for a week and then quit i could deal with the $ but the russian roulette feeling gets on my nerves and i am carrying around all these back-ups and switching off

ok now i see the vapemate is a fitting to let you use the bottle itself as the tank and then it drips onto whatever atomizer. mmmh might be a way to reduce the bottle clutter problem which my co-workers are nagging me about--still leaves me searching for the perfect atomizer...i like the concept though. now that i'm stocked up on the ego-t atomizer--any connector/adaptor that will let me hook this on to a vapemate? kind of redundant. the feedback i've seen elsewhere suggests that MAP is a bit fragile. could i throw this vapemate in my pocket/bag assembled and not worry about juice leaking all over?

You could also try SmartCarts with a regular 510 atty on your ego if you want the convenience of a tank but the reliability of a well-tested atomizer. Add an eGo cone for looks and airflow management and you should be pretty close to the eGo-T tank experience without the fiddliness of the tank atomizers.

i checked out the website--5 bucks a pop not too bad. How long to do they last in terms of refills? is this a one off manufacturer or is this getting to be a common product?

i'm going to keep working with these 510 solutions ( i have 6-7 batteries here and want to at least wear them out) but the more i look the more the reo mod solution seems more logically sustainable...i see he has em up again at $134 a pop this is no cheap solution--and it means abandoning some $100 plus worth of ego and 510 mega batteries (although truth be told i've pretty much abandoned the meg batts except as things to hand an analog smoker who doesn't want to suck on soemthing the size of a magic marker.

That's $134 + the cost of batteries and a charger, so figure more like $150-170 (several batteries and a good charger), but your 510 atties will carry over. I just put an order in for a mini today. Will it replace my other stuff? I don't know. I'm liking my eGo-Ts well enough but I really want to try a juice-feeder mod. I figure worst case I can sell it for nearly the same amount I bought it for on the classifieds if it's not for me.

Also, $134 is less than the price of two cartons of cigarettes. I'm counting this against my March allotment, so I've still got two cartons worth of juice and stuff I can buy before I feel like I've spent too much :)

No hot water? I blow my out but don't let them dry for 24 hours. I'll try that. I have problems with the draw and keep having to blow the atty out.

I get long life from my atties. My first tank is still going strong after about three weeks. I have a mega cylinder atty that I vaped exclusively for several months (since last October) and it's still going strong. The key is to never let the atty run dry and be VERY careful when you do a dry burn after cleaning. Dry burning will kill the life of an atty.

I still have most of my 510 attys that were purchased April 2010. I've lost one of those and a couple of mega cylinders, but that's it. I've been using the same Joye LR 510 atty as an occasional alternate juice vape on a 510 batt since Christmas. I keep an different juice in it and hit it a few times a day for a change.

I've destroyed 4 ego batteries with low resistance cartomizers/atomizers. One time it wouldn't shut off. I had to unscrew the cartomizer and burned my fingers. The battery seemed to respond to pushing the button but as soon as the cartomizer was screwed in it would activate. Another one died and just wouldn't stop flashing. The other two just stopped activating. They would charge, and I could press the button and it would light up, but it wouldn't put power to the cartomizer/atomizer. Anyone else had these problems? I only use low resistance cartomizer/atomizers with my precise 18650 now. I bought an ego passthrough and just use regular 510 atomizers with it.

As for atomizer lifespan I would say one week seems to fit my experience. Some last 2 weeks some 3 days and some 1. I drip, and frankly don't like dripping, vapor production is very hit and miss with lots of problems with ejuice. Either it's the juice, the atomizer or the cartomizer Cartomizer consistency I've found to be very low then they just end up tasting bad after a short time. The atomizers I find more reliable, but they're like 5 times more expensive per unit. I must be the only one having bad luck I've been vaping for about a 8 months now.

I've just been doing 3.7 volts. 1.5, 1.8, and 2.0 ohm cartomizer/atomizers. I've had some times when my vaping was so great I wished it lasted forever. Had some tasty vapor geoff's blend that was perfect with a 1.8 ohm cartomizer. Warm clouds. Got another batch and it was really mediocre. Using same brand/ohm cartomizer, but with diferent VG/PG ratio. Then if I get too high a ratio of VG the juice starts to taste burned.

As for lasting 510's I've found the titan's from that awful totallywicked.com to be the longest lasting, but the service and everything else about totallywicked I can't stand including their juices.

Vaping is unreliable at this point for me. I too want a reliable vape. I bought one of those mega ego xl atomizers. It's huge and for me it sucks. I guess you can't drip into one? It didn't come with a cartridge. I hate cartridges I really don't want to be surprised with a huff of burning plastic. Yuck. Anyway that's why I'm here... to learn.

When it's good it's great, when it's not, it's frustrating! :)

I have found a mod that for 48 hours has worked fantastically and that is the brass screen mod. The cart with a regular 510 atomizer has been vaping SOLID until it is empty and I've been able to fill to the top by dripping right thru the brass screen cone I made with ease. There are a lot of great directions for this mod on youtube and unless this fails, at least for now I'll stick with this. I still use the cone with my EGO and will keep playing with the tank system trying to figure out how to make it perform like it does the day you first fire up a new tank atty and cartridge. Thanks to all very much for all your great suggestions. Texanandproud

I have gotten a bit lost on all the threads/sub threads here but have you tried an eGo Mega cone and cart? I use the 510, eGo, eGo-T most of the time when in stationary areas, but when I am driving I use the Mega Cone. If you don't fill it too full (as recommended by many) I have never had any leaking and since it "wicks" the attys don't seem to dry out, and thus burn out as quickly when I can't continually monitor them while driving. Not sure this will be your best answer, but if you can get one it may be worth a try.

There is "The Dripper"....I haven't tried this but am curious about it. I was interested in the VapeMate and may try it some time but I didn't want to always have to be squeezing the bottle. The Dripper is priced lower than the VapeMate, so you may want to try it?? I'm awaiting my first MAP tank in an effort to circumvent the juice feeding issues I sometimes have with my Tank.
