Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? My first two micrcoil books on my PT 1 & 2 worked beautifully, the last three worked great for about an hour, then the draw gets super tight and I sometimes get juice in my mouth. They've done this with rayon and cotton both...

It sounds like the center post insulator is getting squooshed - although that doesn't explain why it's working for up to an hour before the problem develops. Unless you are continuing to fiddle with the tank and tightening it down more as you go.

The newer clear-ish post insulators are softer than the original white version. If you over tighten the tank the center post compresses the insulator, cutting off air flow between the outer wall of the base and the body of the coil assembly. If that's what is going on try pulling the metal center post out just a small bit to decompress the insulator and check the draw again. Needless to say over tightening again will recreate the problem.

The question remains though: Did that help? Keep us posted.

It's the small rim on the bottom of the insulator that is the problem. There is very little clearance between the coil assembly and the wall of the coil base where that air has to flow through. Any compression of that exposed part of the insulator can create a complete vacuum lock.
