what if i eventually make the dissicion to go for these batteries for our metal mini's?
and if so, what to choose, protected or unprotected?

would that be a foolish dissicion or are there better options?

i am using now the AW IMR 600mah, they don't last us long enough anymore, 1 - 2 hours, sometimes even less. if it turns out that the batteries that i have are fine (they are going to be tested), then those batteries and us are no longer a good match. it just isn't practical to take whem with us, with a load of spares when we are out and about on our motorcycle or bicycle, then i want our wooden vv's to stay at home where they are save :)

Don't trust the numbers on the xxxFire (Surefire excluded) batteries, they are flat out lies. As far as I know there are no better (as in holding out longer) batteries for mechanical 14500 mods than the AW IMR. There are BDL IMR 14500 out there that are sometimes reported as good, too, but I never tested those myself.

Maybe your batteries are getting weaker from usage? Try to get your hands on a new AW IMR 14500 and see how long it holds?

yes i know, and they were good, our old ones (11 months) used to last us 4 - 5 hours. their great performence is gone now so i orderd new ones, have them bout 3 or 4 weeks now and they were not lasting us long from the start. there is one the way to AW to be tested. when we first bought our mini's over a year ago i was not aware and bought me some trustfires, the protected ones, they lasted us back then around 9 hours, so thats why am thinking of those becase we use regular atty's so the high drain isn't really nessesary right? even if they would last us only 4 hours now i would be happy :)

I've been using trustfires the ones with the flame on them from the start. I bought some aw imr's later and while they are good, I keep going back to the trustfire flames. I just think they give much better life and that's important to me working 12 hour shifts in an aluminum mill. I can't always get back to my lunch bag to get a new battery. Never had a problem with them, but that's just my opinion...

The protected batteries or the IMR batteries are the safe batteries. The unprotected batteries are dangerous. If everything is working properly the AW IMR 600 will work better than the 900 Trustfire. If you are running LR atty's the AW IMR will perform better than those Trustfire.

I know you have had this problem awhile with the batteries not lasting long. I sure hope you find the problem.

If you were getting 4-5 hours before and now 1-2 hours, and assuming your vaping has not changed, I think your batteries are no good or your charger is acting up. Are you buying batteries from a reliable and trusted vendor?

Have you given your Reo a good cleaning and applied Noalox to the firing pin? You may want to remove the spring screw and Noalox the screw where it makes contact with the body of the mod. Apply a slight amount to the battery terminals and the tip of the spring.

Grands are great for battery life. :)

yes, never had a problem with them too, they have a bit of a harsher vape, but i liked that, had to learn to appriciate the aw's :D

ah yes then i will go for the protected ones again. yes indeed, and by now we both have really enough of them :( but still there is hope coz the vv's can arrive any day soon, even though i will need those mini's in working order too.

Jeann, read this. :)

ah tyvm, that was exactly what i needed to read :D bleh, don't mind gas but flames...

yes we went that road back and forth, ended up with 2 new chargers and quite some improvements taste wise :) so now all that is left that the batteries are no good or we have changed unknowingly our vaping habbit.

yes the vendor is very reliable and in fact i now do have very much respect for her too to keep so pacient with me all this time. i just found that she is on a 2 week vacation and i was bugging her  she was actually answering me on her vacation  send her another mail to say sorry and that i will hold my horses...this also means that i will have to wait at least 2 or 3 weeks before any testreslts will come back

eventually i decided to buy me 2 sets of the Trustfires, to only use them when we really really need them, and be even more carefull with them then we are with the AW's...they may even tell us that we have outgrown the 14500 and need to upgrade indeed

oh, is 11 months too early for AW's to loose their performence then? got mostly around 6 months out of them and my old charger is a Pila. thought anything 6+ months was good. with 2 mini's running every day by both of us, swapping about 7-8 batts a day on them with 10 batts in use...hard to calculate tho coz we didn't have a rotation going, we started to do so just lately.

anyhow, 7-8 batts a day that at least being doubled is 14-16 batts a day...if it was just 1 mini then it might be still do-able but this is just franticly charging to try to keep up. if we go out the whole day we will have to bring the charger with us, or keep our fingers crossed that the 14 that i have now will last us and when we get home then set out all 3 chargers to chatch up, that being late when you want to go to bed...even the thought of it makes me panic  yes, we really do need our vape

I think 14 is a good number... Let's see... I have 2 Reo Mini's- and 2 mini woodvils (but not everyday use), my wife has 1 and my son (now) another, but he very rarely uses his- just when he's drinking to avoid smoking. We have 14 batteries too...that's after retiring 2 that were not charging right and were discharging quickly.... Anyway, I'd like to keep a rotation going at this point too but I have tried a sharpie with numbers on my Reo batteries but the ink comes off after a few times (juice gets on them etc.) I think I'm going to start a new thread on how to "mark your batteries."

You can use a sharpie. Just put some cellophane tape over your numbers! I do that. But I use a paint pen to mark

Good idea but I'm hard on everything- I would say the cellophane would be off the batteries in no time. I thought of cutting out some numbers with duct tape and taping them onto the battery- this would keep the door from rattling too (never happens until I clean a reo mini though)....

Sorry, I've taken this thread off-course. If you want to comment on how to keep track of batteries in rotation- the thread is here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ing-your-batteries-how-do-you-keep-track.html

My stress addled brain may have missed it...but I didn't see the AW ICs mentioned as an alternative to the Trustfires. After using the Trustfires & Ultrafires...I found the AW IC's to be longer lasting and more consistent. I'm sorry I am late....and if these were in fact discussed...please disregard my post :laugh:

 i use labels with paper on top, can write with everything on it. preveously we just put them in a pile and just grab one. now we line them up, left goes the freshly charged ones and right we pick one when needed, works better for multiple people i think, when we go out the line get messed up ofc, but i think it's at least a tad better. they get numbers like A1 and B1 to keep older and newer ones apart, and when i test them i make a list and fill that in when i use one... this sound complicated

thank you Lisa, those were not mentiond yet, going to keep those certainly in mind when i need more batts. afterall, where ever i read, AW are the best batteries according to safety and performence.
