I have been vaping pod devices for 4 months. 36mg Nic slats. Started with 3mg then 6mg freebase but not satisfying enough for me.
I now have a smok Morph 219 on the way. Ordered 4 premium 6mg premium juices to try. Looking forward to seeing what the DTL experience is like.
I will not stop using the pod systems as they are good for discreet vaping.
I've read all the bad things about Smok, but I like the look of this device and it sounds like the coils last a while.

Salts have maybe half the throat hit of freebase, and DL has maybe 2x-3x the power of MTL. This means 6ml DL is going to be about equivalent to 12-18mg MTL. You may need 9 or even 12mg for DL to get the same effect. Don’t be too annoyed if 6mg/ml doesn’t work for you. 36mg/ml is hella strong. The other option is to get more nic in your body by vaping more. You might wind up chaining that 6mg/ml DL for a while.

I went from 35mg on a Nord with the 0.6ohm DL(Laughably) coil, to DL on a 90w mod. I was using 6mg salts, and quickly realized that was to much, and switched to 3, and am continuing to reduce. It's been about 6 months since I smoked. YMMV

THe Morph comes with .25 ohm. I will have extra coils and experiment with wattage. I think the .25 ohm coil is rated for 30-80 watts, but 60-70 is optimal. I will experiment with flavours and Nic strength.
There is a .15 ohm option, but not interested in that.

@HigherStateD I'm glad to hear you reduced. I hope to use as little nic strength as possible. Just want to get some good flavour and keep vaping around the same amount I do. However, with a pod system I vape a lot. So I see myself using both systems.

What is optimal for you is literally whatever the heck is optimal for you. The wattage rating on coils so far as I can tell is more of a semi informed suggestion.

If I personally was to vape a coil cartridge rated at 30-80ohm I would start around 20 and raise it by 5s till I got something I liked then refine it by ones and twos. The lower the wattage you need the less high drain your batteries need to be and the longer they will last. Maybe you will wind up in the 60-70 range. Maybe you won’t.

Agree completely with this - especially since you're experimenting after only vaping MTL. If good flavour is your goal, completely ignore the coil recommendations :thumb:

I DTL using .6 to .7ohm coils at 11-14w. I also occasionally use some 0.25 coils at about 40w and some 0.15coils at about 60w.
    I use 2mg to 3.5mg.
I started mtl vaping using 18mg and 24mg and worked down to 12'ish mg mtl. Going to dl I dropped down to the 2-3.5mg I use now.
If I knew then what I know now I wouldnt have bothered with mtl as a primary vape style while quitting. I wouldve just jumped straight into DL.
    Its a journey.
I do still have mtl tank and rta set ups going I just dont use them much.

I'm usually using 0.5 ohms plus for DTL at less than 30 Watts with TC, temperature set at 250°C. Favourite tank for TC is the Vaporesso Skrr with the 0.5 ohm NRG GT CCell coils.

I don't mind a bit of warmth to my vape, but can't stand it too hot or too cold. As it just doesn't give me the right flavour.

Suggested wattage is about as useful as well, I tried to come up with a good analogy, but can't. Sorry. I tried. They are that useless.

The looser the draw, the more wattage you need to get the coil warm and keep it there. If you dont minda long ramp, as in, you chain vape and don't mind that first puff to be lackluster, you could probably start out at 20-25w, so long as the airflow is somewhat blocked off.

Yes, I say 14w and 40w but really it's 180c to 200c regardless of what watts I'm using.
I also use the nrg ccell ss .5 coils in a nrg tank.

@Jebbn, I'm using 28 Watts with those 0.5 ohm CCell's in TC mode. Or Joules depending upon the mod.

It's just an initial preheat setting until the coil hits the set temperature, cannot go back to normal Wattage mode now. As coils just end up becoming burnt offerings to the vaping gods.

But the GT CCell is certainly a coil that if you get a good one it does kind of spoil you, but after all you've got to treat yourself once in a while.

Currently using a SS Clapton coil 0.6 ohm at 22 to 26 ohms. Only using 1.5 mg/ml nicotine and it is plenty.

Started out vaping with 50 mg/ml disposable ecigs. Switched mod with 18 mg/ml nicotine and have lowered nicotine content with switch to DTL

Go thru 12 or 15 ml of ejuice a day currently. Not an issue as the cost to make is around $1.25 per 60 ml

Its good to use as little nic as possible and if that's something your looking at, look at it nic per day. One might reduce from 6mg to 3mg, but double the juice intake per day, so your really not reducing, only inhaling more juice....reducing from 6 to 3 with vaping the same mls per day is really reducing....I know there are many that actually reduce their daily nic intake , but I also see many that are proud of going from 6 to 3, but they are now vaping 3x's the ejuice.....I'm not saying any of this is wrong or bad, but just something to think about

I picked up my new device today, and after charging the batteries I gave it a whirl. Wow! Flavour! I will need to experiment with wattages. I am impressed with the first few vapes at lower wattages. I just may end up being able to get by with 3mg once I boost it up. For now, the look, feel and taste is what I was hoping for. Switching to a DTL was no effort at all. Felt more natural than I expected. Thanks for the comments!
