So I had a thread going where I was showing off my first rda, and in it I mentioned that I would now be in the market for an upgrade to the battery I'm currently using. It was suggested to me (by very helpful people) there that I look at an inexpensive mechanical.. Before the thread I wasn't really into the idea of a mechanical, was going to get a vamo and then save and get a dna 30 sometime in the next year when they're actually available... so I took longer than I should have sifting through the possibilities. Went to work yesterday with 2 possibilities in mind, and a plan to buy one of them.. pages Favorited. Wanted to wait until I could get home and ask you fine people about my two choices. And wouldn't you know it while I was at work they both sold out..

So here's why I'm making this thread. I want a mechanical. Was going to go super cheap but since that option isn't really available now without going to fasttech(I really don't want to wait a long time or worry about how long I'll have to wait.. don't want to go through there) or getting something I really don't like the look of I've changed my game plan.

My budget for the mod is around $50. (I can go a little higher IF it's absolutely worth it. I have extra put aside for a real nice charger and a couple batteries.) I would like to get it from a US based company and if that company was reliable for buying batteries from that would be a big plus. I like the look of the telescoping mods much more than I do the screw together tubes. I want the ability to use an 18650. I really don't know as much about conductivity as I probably should, meaning I'm not sure what type of finish would be the best so any advice there would be helpful. I don't know how possible this is but I keep hearing people suggest the nemesis with the magnet switch upgrade. I don't like the look of the nemesis, but I wonder if there is a way to upgrade any other mods (maybe telescoping?) with with a magnetic switch? (That probably sounds stupid) So I'm back to only two things that I've seen that caught my eye, but a lot of you guys and gals are so much better at this than I am. I figured I'd post this and beg for help finding my first mechanical mod before i pull out too many more clumps of hair stumbling around trying to find one by myself..

Hcigar Private v2 - Love the look of it. Don't know if it's possible to upgrade it at all. Not really sure if it's worth the price.

Smoktech Magneto - I know theres a telescoping version of this, and it is currently the front runner because it hits most of my points, there are just a lot of looks i like a lot better.

sorry that was so long

The private can be upgraded to magnets.

I found magnet upgrade for the original on fatdaddyvapes, is the hcigar private a 1:1 clone/ will the upgrade fit the hcigar privatev2?

does anyone have the hcigar privatev2? what do you think of it? is it worth the price?

I'm starting to become worried that what i'm looking at now will disappear before i can get answers to my questions.. this is starting to suck.

I'm EXTREMELY happy with my FastTech Astro clone! Best $21 I've spent in a long time! Telescoping center pin ensures all my atomizers fit nice and flush. Took a couple weeks to get it, but it was worth it.

thank you for that, but I'd really rather not wait for fast tech.. Heard to much negative about them, and would rather not take a chance, however well they might have worked for some people. Maybe later after I've gotten a mod that works well for me and an extra 30 bucks sitting around I'll take the chance and see what they're like, but not now.

how about the kylin mod? Anyone used it? do you like it? is there a way to upgrade the switch on it to a magnetic switch?

thank you again for any help. I really appreciate it. I just want to get this so I can think of other things for a little while lol

I really wish these vape shop websites if they aren't going to go to the trouble of figuring out what stock they actually need and keeping something even close to that in inventory (I understand that isn't always possible...) would take down the crap they don't have in stock or put that it's out of stock on the list pages rather than making you click through every single one to find out they apparently sell 2 items because they have nothing else.

anyway. rant over. Still hoping for any ideas here. I've got a short list of possibilities but none of them scream "buy me".. :(

**Edit** wondering if the Magneto can be run with a kick? and if so if it will work with the 18650 and a kick? I'm reading and seeing some people say both... Wondering if anyone out there with a magneto knows for sure.

looking for a mod where I won't be overspending on it and will be happy with it is kicking my ..... so close to just giving up.

not trying to be bothersome or anything by the way. I'm just rather anxious now.. I've had a few different mods that I was ready to buy go out of stock while they were in my cart and I was doing the last of the checking up on them.. Then I go look for them elsewhere and the prices vary crazily and are all much higher than what I was going to get. I doubt anyone has made it reading this far anyway.. Probably just get the nemesis even though I don't like the look of it and I really would rather a telescopic mod , just because I can't find out if the magneto can use a kick (with/without the 18650).. The reviews say the private v2 has a button that's harder to trigger...

GAH!

edit #2...

Just went ahead and picked up the nemesis from 101vape. It seems to be a popular decision, I can upgrade it, it was at a reasonable price ($30.00) I figure I can test the fasttech waters later on and order a mech or two that I like the looks of after I have a good reliable mod here to use and the batteries and charger that they need. So now I'm off to try and figure out where the best place to get batteries will be.

I own both, magneto v2 and HCigar nemmy, I prefer nemmy, hits harder and the adjustable pin is just right length. Get the magnets for the nemmy, You can always get good telescoping clone later on if want to run 350 mode

Sorry to ask simple question, but new to mods....I like cartos as I am not confident about rebuilding (yet) - is the Nemesis useful/effective with cartos or should I stick with my ProVari for cartos until I'm ready for RBAs?? Also - I use an Aspire tank - would that be ok on a Nemesis? Thanks for helping a NewGirl!!

stick with the provari for cartos.. unless your using like a 1.4 head.. even then id stick with the provari for now if you are a carto guy because you can set your voltage at 4.3 and vape all day. I personally dont use vv devices but im also not a carto or tank guy.. ive been a dripper since i started even on egos. Once you are ready to step into rebuildables I would buy a cheap mech clone and a cheap dripper with holes in the posts. I think one of the igo-w models has holes in the posts. This will make the transition easier for you because it will be easy to build on, cheap, and vape really well. Then when you are ready to upgrade to a high end mech and dripper you can really start seeing why so many of us are mech lovers.
