I would love to start a thread that has all ex smokers briefly acknowledge that vaping was the best choice you ever made and it was the ONLY method that worked for you at finally beating real cigarettes.

The key here is for everyone to post a very "SHORT" summary , just a short paragraph about what you tried , what did not work for you in your attempts to quit and your success with turning to e cigs. How long you smoked would also be helpful.

I think short summaries of all the success stories would have a much greater impact on the naysayers.

I will start , i smoked for 20 years , tried Chantix , hypnotism , gum , patches etc... no luck . My health was deteriorating and i was desperate , all i can say is thank God i found vaping , i was able to stop smoking almost immediately .

I feel 100% better and my physician confirms it , e cigs are imo , the most effective device ever to hit the market and should be celebrated not condemned .

I think there is a website called ECF that has that

Nope , thats my point , there are mentions of it on every forum but not a single thread dedicated to it and thats the biggest problem.

I have told many people to check out ECF but no way are they going to search the entire site to find individual responses on how each individual quit .

Besides each individual's story is way way too long , a brief summary is what would help.

Good thinking Herb... CASAA started this a year or so ago, and it collects from folks from all forums and social media:
Submission Form | CASAA Testimonials

This gives them a great tool to use in their dealings with the powers that be. :)

Quitting cigarette success rate.

Just a few over the years, not including all the personal success stories that brought out others successful attempts.
Some never made it past the opening post.

I was convinced I had to make a change, did my homework and in Aug. of 2012, I switched to Vaping. Never touched another cigarette again.
This was from a 45yr. 1.5-2 PAD habit and repeated failures.

Began vaping March 6, 2014, and quit smoking May 5, 2014. It took me awhile, but I knew it had potential when my smoking dropped 50% on day one.

Tried and failed: cold turkey, cutting down gradually, patch, gum, Nictrol inhaler, Wellbutrin and Chantix.

ETA: began smoking at age 10 and quit at age 45. I was a 1.5PAD smoker until the tax hike in 09 forced me to cut down to 1 per hour (so 16-18 a day). I sure smoked the snot out of those 16 cigs a day though. I'm sure my equivalent was similar to my previous 1.5PAD, but I didn't have to spend more money.

I was actually allergic to the adhesive on the patch. The gum caused me to lose my voice. And Chantix had horrific side effects the 6 days I was on it, then I had a severe allergic reaction to it. At that point I resigned myself to being a smoker until I died. But,the miracle of vaping saved me :)

I don't want to sound like a broken record here..

08/25/15 was my last cigarette, have been vaping since. Started on cigarettes in Jr. High, around age 12; became a regular smoker at 16. Had been given a scrip for Chantix but never filled it, mainly because the list of side-effects scared the bejeezus out of me. Was a PAD+ smoker until 03/07/15 when a heart attack left me with 8cm of stents in my ACA. I cold-turkey'ed for a few weeks before picking up the cigs again, maybe 1/2 PAD. Tried the Vuse as a substitute, then was given a (cheap) EGo/clearo setup by a friend. Within two weeks of that, I had my first real vaping kit and ditched the cigs. I firmly believe that I would still be smoking cigarettes without having vaping as an alternative.

I'm 48. I started smoking when I was 15, mostly a pack a day for many years. I cut down towards the end, down to 9 cigs a day. Quitting usually lasted a couple of days. The longest I quit was about 7 months, on Chantix. I didn't have cravings, but I wanted to die. Not good. So I started smoking again.

In June of '14, I got a great deal on cigalikes and refills for them, and tried it out. It actually WORKED. Then I found this forum, found a B&M in my town and got an eGo kit, and it's been fantastic since then. Quitting smoking without the sadness and loss I always felt in earlier attempts was a miracle!

36 year smoker.

2 PAD if I was in a situation where smoking was difficult. 4+PAD doing farm work or outside work or in my shop.

Tried Chantix and other drugs over the years. ZERO success with these.

No luck with the patches but some luck with the little minty candies.

Decent luck with cold turkey. Longest run was 2 years. Did excellant, never thought about smoking honestly. Then suddenly I was smoking again. Slowly at first but was back over 2 PAD with in a Month.

Started ecigs when my wife was angry when we tried to watch TV I had to "go out to the shop" for something every half hour. Then for airports and car rides. These could never replace smoking but the covered the gaps.

Final vape gear got good enough and cheap enough I belived I could find a way and threw my entire smoking budget at the vape thing. In NY this is no small amount of money. Found the answer to every question vexing me. Found a new hobby. Have no problem whatsoever staying off the cigs. Been over a year since I even considered smoking.

But I could go back to smoking. I can list 20 reasons why I hate smoking but have to remember I learned to live with them in the past and could do so again. Once an addict always an addict. The two year run taught me alot. I was cocky back then but I know better now.

Started my 53 yr. 2+ PAD smoking habit at 16 and never tried stopping. Googled Blu ecigs to find a temporary fix for a trip. Dug deeper for information and a month later would up with the MVP v1 from a just opened local B&M. Started to "practice" at noon without the slightest idea I was quitting. Three days later without a smoke I realized a miracle was happening. Six days after starting my vaping journey went to my first vape meet and won my "backup" gear......a ProVari. It's been an unexpected, heaven sent, fun filled 29 months experience I wouldn't give up for the world! Non smoking family agrees. :)

I'm 39 years old. I started smoking at 12, a pack or less a day. As an adult I was up to a pack and a half a day. Fast forward to Sept 21st, 2013. I had to go in for back surgery (my third in a year and a half) to have a couple of my vertebrae bolted together. I was in the hospital for 4 days and knew I couldn't smoke so I brought a couple of the Blu disposables with me.

I got home on the 25th and was bed ridden for the first 4 weeks. I couldn't go outside to smoke and the Blu's worked so well while I was in the hospital I said what the hell! I joined ECF, did a few hours research and bought a Kanger EVOD starter kit and a couple of flavors from Goodejuice. A NET tobacco, a fruit, and a bakery flavor. The rest is history! I immediately quit smoking with that kit. I couldn't get out of bed to go outside to smoke so it was easy to completely stop smoking! All I did was watch TV, read and learn everything I could about vaping on ECF and concentrate on quitting the stinkies! I've been smoke free since that day!

...and to think that people want to take these away from us and smokers who want to quit...

MAKES ME SICK!

As i recall i started smoking at the age of 11 or 12 or something like that. Stopped 2 or 3 years ago when i started vaping. Moving up to bigger batteries or mods and better quality longer lasting atomizers is for me the best way to stick with it. Now i d.i.y my juice, have several litres of ingredients for that. Have several standby mods just in case. I use a decent tube mod along with a box mod which i alternate all day long. I don't go out and buy the next best thing to arrive on the market. Just need hardwearing mods and atomizers which will last. As opposed to semi-disposable hardware and such which doesn't.

A pack and a half when you were 12 !!!?.

When i was that young me and a mate would always split the cost of a pack of ten. And they'd last all day !. That was the early eighties.

Ha! No. As an adult I was smoking a pack and a half a day. When I was a teenager living at home it was about a pack or a little less than a pack a day. I guess that was worded a little funny.

I fixed it. LOL!
