I think it was 4 or 5 years ago I purchased a Blu Starter kit. It was stylish, had decent reviews at the time, and was reasonably priced. Uneducated in the world of e-cigs (although I think alot of people were 4-5 years ago) i expected it to be a close enough replica to the smoking an analog experience that I'd just quit the Analogs and move right in to the 21st century with the E-cigs.

Not at all. I had all the typical problems, Drew too hard would suck up a bunch of fluid, never fealt like I was getting a good drag, battery would shutoff on me too soon, etc etc... What finally killed it is when I believed the 1 cart = 1 pack statement. when I averaged about 1 cart every couple sessions I figured something was wrong with the blu, or i was doing it wrong, or that the whole thing was just stupid. My wife kept up for awhile, until shortly afterwards the charging pack died, then we went back to good ol' marb reds, never fail to satisfy.

I've decided to give it another go... Unfortunately the Ecig world has gotten so crazy and advanced that it is difficult to decide what to purchase, or if I'm even purchasing the correct thing.

I would like something somewhat stylish, It doesn't need to look like a cigarette, but I don't want to look like i'm playing some musical aparatus from the star wars films. I also don't want something so sophisticated that were I to smoke it in a coffee shop, some hipster would sit down beside me and expect to swap vaping stories.

Something simple, enough battery life or batteries to get me to work and back home. 8hour day with 4x5-10m breaks, 20minute drive.

Something I can refil.

Something that creates enough vapor to satisfy the visual addiction.

I liked the size of the blu, but i'd be willing to go a bit bigger in exchange for more battery life.
I've been looking at the V2, they seem to be getting decent reviews, but i've been hearing alot of positive things about the 510.
Also V2 seems to be releasing something here in about a week, and I don't know if its worth holding out for or not.

Or I could be WAY OFF and want/need neither of these.

Experienced ones, please help me pick an E-Cig.

Hi dibvox and welcome to ECF. Rgarding the V2 I've never looked into it as I felt they were overpriced. I also warn people that if the vendor does not mention the mah of the battery look elsewhere. 100 mah= 1 hour vaping so you'd prolly need 1100 mah batts. And you prolly want a 3.7 volt PV. There's the:
Kgo
EPower
Riva
to mention a few.
Here's a discount coupon Code List that updated constantly:

I would try and buy from the ECF listed vendors as they operate here under a strict code of ethics and if they don't members will call them out.
Good Luck.

The Kgo is a little bigger than what i'm looking for, but I'm not ruling it out. Especially when weighing functionability vs "the look/feel" i'm going for. I could see myself kicking back on the couch watching some sports and going nutz on that, but for a quick trip out or a smoke break, was hoping for something a little smaller, something to pull out of my pocket a little less ritualistic.

Welcome to ECF! I think you'll find what you need. Things have defiantly come a looong long way. Many people toot about this starter kit -->Crystal Clear Vaping

If you end up wanting an eGo or Riva Liberty Flights is an excellent vendor. 2 month warranty and always have a 20% coupon available on site. The Riva may not stand up to the eGo however quality wise. One I had purchased for my mother quickly began acting wonky right after the 2 month mark passed while the first eGo kit she had purchased is still going. The battery isn't lasting as long but they work.

Cartomizers are your friend! :p Drip tips really add to the experience. They just attach to the atomizer or cartomizer. The draw is much much better with a drip tip. Just a tip, atomizers/cartomizers/drip tips should all be the same threading size. Kgo, eGo, Riva are 510 for example. You may already be aware of that but if not it's good to know.

The problem with smaller batteries is you are not going to get 8 hour life. If you want 8 hour battery life you will need at least something of the fat batt variety(eGo, Kgo, ect). Sorry, just how it is. They really aren't that big, more like a slim cigar shape to them. Manual is ALWAYS better. Okay, maybe not always... but if you plan on filling your own juice, dripping, you bet it is! Automatic batteries are just so much more fragile and if juice gets in them they tend to die.

Hello and Welcome, I agree with Vapoor eyes er that the cig style will not get you thru the day unless your a light vaporer. The XL size does last longer but didn't last a full work day for me.I started with V2 and they got me off cigs but I carried 4 batteries and a charger.I then got a Kgo,which I still use (and I get a full day on a charge).

LOL vaping is a very personal program and it depends on:
how much you vape and how long you activate the button. With the Kgo it should get you through a full day of vaping. Friends that own it manage their workday with 1 batt. On the Kgo the lit button will tell you when it needs recharge. Charging takes about 3 hrs which is quite good. Be careful of charging thru the USB/ PC port as some have reported damage to their pc...not just with the Kgo but other chargers. I have 2400 mah batts and when new they were good for close to 24 hrs. Remember also LR cartos (as opposed to standard resistance) will drain the batt faster. Vaping on SmokTech 1.7 single coil cartos I get about 10 hrs vaping but the batts I'm using are about 8 months old. I have some new ones but I just want to see how long these will last.

Just to clear this up a bit, when talking about battery life, are we talking 8 hours of vaping time, or getting through an 8 hour day, which inculdes about 45minute - 1 hour on the aparatus.

the ego/riva/kgo or what ever else you want to call those devices are about the size of a small cheep cigar or the size of a sharpy especially if you get the small 650mah version. picture for comparison:

If you want to avoid your past problems with vaping, I would suggest following the good advice of Vapoor. His suggestions are the size of a sharpie pen, not really that big. But out perform the mini battery models you were looking at by a large margin. I would definitely get manual batteries for better performance, better control and safer.

Hi Dibvox. Welcome back. You said in one of the posts you may be ok with having 2 different devices. Don't rule that out. If you are ok with a bit of an investment then look for a mega510 battery. i will find you a link. Like this...Joye 510 MEGA Battery these are automatic but there are manual options around as well like this Joye 510 MEGA Manual Switch Battery . These would be sleek and provide you with a fair amount of use time (280mAh) compared to a standard 510(180mAh). If you go this route be sure to pick up the smaller 510 charger(about 200mah) for them because using any of the eGo(420Mah) chargers will shorten their lifespan. Once you have the batts and charger in your "cart" pick out some good cartomizers like Boge or Smoketech at 2.5 to 3 ohms. This will give you the style you are looking for in a reliable slim package....... heres the rub.... Until you get up above about 450mAh in battery capacity you will need to use a higher ohm load carto to prevent damage/shortening your battery life dramatically. You will sacrifice form for function with this arrangement but it is better than how most of us started and I personally know quite a few folks who are plenty satisfied with this exact setup, and still use it every day.

Then theres the eGo style units like have been suggested in , I think ,all the previous posts. The eGo sized units have enough capacity(mAh) to run lower ohm cartomizers and atomizers. This type device is where you would be capable of running attys and cartos down to 1.5ohms. That will allow you to produce plenty of warm, thick vapor and help to give you more feeling on the inhale. Most users,Including me, would recommend the Boge2ohm or the Smoketech1.7ohm cartos to put on an eGo style battery.

I hope you find a device that suits your style and tastes. Don't forget to grab a drip tip for your cartomizers, they make topping off much easier and they feel much better than the standard rubber tips on the cartomizers. If you have any other questions we will be happy to try to help. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Alright, I finally feel I'm on the right track here. Thanks a ton guys. I'm a little torn between the kGo and the eGo, is there enough difference to worry about that?

Any particular vendor that'd be NOOB friendly (easy to navigate, starter kits, good customer service, and hopefully contains the majority of the products I'd need)

Feels good to be a little less lost in this ecig world.

Dibvox. I would suggest going to cignot.com.. They ship superfast (from midwest to maine in 2 days.. seriously fast.. look into them) and have AMAZING customer service should you run into any problems. I'm getting some ego batteries in soon but from reviews I've found on this site it's probably the best non-expensive/non-mod to go with these days. But don't quote me on that as I haven't personally tried them yet. They have both the ego and the 510.

edit 1: (I believe the 510 attys can be used in the ego as well so you could have the cigstyle and larger battery style depending on your situational needs)

edit 2: Johnson Creek has a great starter pack for e-juice and gets the majority of my money since they have the Tennessee Cured which is delicious IMO
