My fiancee surprised me with an authentic michigan edition tugboat rda for my birthday. Im in love with it and its beautiful but im looking for advice on the best possible build for use on a provari. Obviously id like to do a dual coil set up but the provari is pretty limited as far as what i can push ohm wise. I figure ill make two 3ish ohm coil and shoot for 1.5 -1.8 ohms overall. Just curious what wire and how many wraps you would recommend. Ive got 28, 30 and 32 guage A-1 kanthal.

The only reason to do dual coil is to get low sub-ohm resistances. Just wrap a 1.5 ohm coil and be happy with it. You won't get more vapor with two 3 ohm coils.

EDIT: sorry, should have answered your wraps question. I use 30 gauge with about 7 wraps for 1.5-1.6 ohm. This is wrapped around a small 15 gauge finishing nail

Here are a few links for you regarding building coils and getting the resistance just where you want it:
1. Steam Engine
2. Coil Toy Calculator

Make sure to check your build with an ohm reader or DMM before putting it on your mod and firing it.

The Steam Engine is much more than just a coil calculator. I consider it my "All in One" vaping calculator.

I've been hungrily awaiting an app for the steam engine calc. Would so love that on my tablet.

Just saw this on another thread:
There is a nice new app on the Apple store about coil building it's from Swiss vaping it's 5.00 bucks I like it! Also I'm an electrician lol so building is nothing new to me.

seems to work pretty good thus far. The occasional super loud crackle has almost caused me to crap myself a few times

I picked up a tugboat a few days ago. I was never too into drippers because of the limited juice capacity, having to constantly pull the cap & the pocket spillage potential. It is my fourth RDA including a Phoenix V, a By Leo The Dripper, & a Super-T Strata. I've been mainly vaping a UVO Aqua for the last couple months at .4 Ohms and it's been incredible. I've also accumulated a slew of other high end attys and mods, all authentic. The Aqua performs so well I thought I MUST be missing something about drippers. I've always liked the appearance of the chunky, simple looking, Tugboat. I'm also certainly willing to push aside other interests (=$$$) to give my cash to an authentic mod maker, especially if it's made in my home, the USA. Both of the folks at the shop I went in, specifically to look at a new dripper, we're vaping Tugboats so I had one of them do me their favorite build and specified between .5 and 1 Ohm, mainly to conserve battery life (18490). Turns out I WAS missing something! I was missing a Tugboat! I would have to say that it is the finest vape I've personally ever had. All things considered, it is also the simplest device I own. That simplicity definitely makes up for what it lacks... adjustable airflow, a tank & also unnecessary bling, rings, o-rings, very specific wicking, and other fiddley bits. I'm loving it! Below is a 7/8 wrap of 26ga Kanthal coming out to .6 ohms.
