Seems like all the shows I enjoy don't start back up for a bit, any shows that you guys enjoy that I might have missed?
The Big Bang Theory
Mike and Molly
Rectify
Breaking Bad
Sons of Anarchy
I have about 20 episodes of Aerial America recorded for when the in-laws come over.
It's a good helicopter fly-over show with decent narration on The Smithsonian Channel.
It keeps the FI-L from trying to tune in golf
Friends don't let friends watch golf
Warehouse 13 -- I think even non-sf people will love it if they give it a chance. A lot of subtleties but also a riot.
Elementary (always did have a thing for Sherlock Holmes, and this is a great re-interpretation)
Perception
White Collar
NCIS
Castle (sometimes so-so, sometimes great)
A lot of shows (Merlin, Psych, Top Gear (UK), NCIS:LA, Burn Notice, Pawn Stars, etc.) have fallen off my radar because there's nothing new, just recycling the same old same-old.
The vast majority of the time, I just leave TCM (classic movies without commercial interruptions) on because even the worst is better than what's on the other channels.
And I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really miss Eureka!
Orphan Black
oops, forgot to add it to my series managerI have a couple of episodes to catch up on
![]()
I forgot Haven (was that meant to be an ending or is it coming back?).
I think I'd like Orphan Black, but I'm hard of hearing and Time/Warner, in its infinite wisdom, block the Closed-Captioning on BBCAmerica.
Tried Continuum, Defiance, and Alphas. I'm a sf fan from day one (I even write it), but those shows are so poorly conceived and executed, I believe the writers, directors, and producers will be put up against the wall when the revolution comes.
Haven is coming back in the fall!
I like Continuum and Defiance though I do agree, conceptually they're great ideas, but delivery? hmmm, well, they could use some improving. Alphas the same but I like it in small doses. I've never been one to get into those so called "reality" shows or those voice or idol or survivor ones... I have tried but find I have no patience for them. I think I'm in the minority for that.
Great news about Haven!!!
The basic concepts for Continuum and Defiance are so great, they've been the backbone of many novels since the 1950s. It's sad to see such poorly conceived interpretations of them get to the screen.
The only reality shows I like are Life After People and similar things on the science and history channels -- you know, real reality. I do like FaceOff on SyFy because of a fascination with how things are done (the personality conflicts are a total bore).
Note about King -- he's a great writer. He's well-loved and has advanced his genres more than any other living author. I respect his talent and don't begrudge him his wealth or fame. That said, his writing style isn't to my taste. The only time I ever finished one of his books was because I lost a bet. I won't ever make such a wager again.
