Well, I received my first E-smoke 12 days ago, which was a SmartFixx Penstyle. I enjoyed that immensely (see my other posts) and was able to wean off analogs (all but that last one or two) pretty much immediately. I also noticed that other smokers responded very positively to my new 'device' and got to spread quite a bit of community knowledge about it.

I LOST my SmartFixx! In a movie theater parking lot...It must have fallen out of my purse...that was on Thursday night...woe is me... Went all day Friday without it, and was miserable...but only smoked FOUR analogs. I broke down and bought a pack of ultra-lights (had previously been smoking full-flavors) and only smoked a handful. I determined to get another ecig ASAP so as not to lose all the progress I had made...

On Sat. morning, I discovered that Pilot truckstops SELL ecigs in their brick-and mortar stores. So, it was a pilgrimage for me, and I wound up with the njoy device that looks like an analog - brown 'filter', white battery. IT IS AWESOME. It produces 5X the vapor of the SmartFixx, and the battery seems to last at LEAST twice as long. HIGHLY reccommended, OVER the smart fixx.

I have smoked one pack of analog cigarettes in the last TWO WEEKS. This has never happened before in my entire life - pack a day smoker for 10 years...I feel so FREE. I only smoked one analog yesterday, and won't smoke any today. :D I haven't even been vaping as much, really. I only vape about 3-6 times a day, for about 5 minutes at a go, as opposed to pretty much constantly for the first few days.

These devices are WONDERFUL. I wish I could buy one for every smoker I know. I feel like I am finally in control of my life again, and I feel so good about myself I could dance! I did an hour of HARD cardio last night, and the lungs were FINE. I am going to try running this weekend. :D

One thing - I have noticed a rather sore and dry throat the last couple of days - is this normal?

To bad to here you lost your e-cig--got to treat them like gold. As for the dry throat, that is quite common. I switched to Johnson Creek smoke juice as they use no alcohol and that took care of the dry throat problem. www.johnsoncreeksmokejuice.com

The sore throat is pretty normal. It will go away after a few weeks but try drinking more water throughout the day, especially when you go to bed. PG causes this, and so does the alcohol that is sometimes in the ejuice. If it keep bothering you, you can try out the non-pg (or VG) options for e-juice. The only place I know that sells that is johnson creek at the moment, but I could be wrong.

Smartfixx, now there's a blast from the past. I had nearly forgotten about them.

When I first started, Smartfixx, Njoy, and Crown7 were the big names in the USA. Here on the forums it's since become all about the small retailers, though, so they tend to get forgotten.

Newbies like you are good for us, reminding us that those guys are still around. Maybe I ought to go back and review them. I sometimes spend too much time looking forward to the next new thing, and overlook the old guard.

from what i read on pure smoker sore/dry throat could be a propylene glycol (from what i have read it is in the ejuice/cartridges) allergy...

Well it COULD be, but since she's having a little iritation, and not a big adverse reaction, it's probably just a dry throat. ;)

PG dries out the mouth and throat. Drink more water. It's worst for the first week or so when you first begin vaping, until your throat gets used to it. You will probably also get a bit of irritation when switching between different brands of e-liquid, especially from a smoother one to a harsher one, and if you "upgrade" to a higher vapor producing device. Again, a week or so to adjust and it'll go away.
