Hi all.
It has been 2 weeks since I started vaping. Haven't touched an analog since. Haven't wanted to. This really is THE way to quit. If you are reading this and you haven't taken the plunge yet, just do it already! (But do your research here FIRST)
Just a few of thoughts on my experience thus far:
1. Bought an overpriced KR808 from from V2. I wanted a PV that was as close to an analog as possible. Saw them first and bought a big kit. (Still waiting on the charging case...Grrr) Obviously, if I had come here first and done even a bit of research, I could have gotten the same hardware a lot cheaper and a lot sooner. I have since bought additional batteries, carts, and a couple of USB passthrus from another vendor. I am happy overall with the design and function of this style of PV.
2. The USB Passthrus are by far my best investment. I spend most of my waking hours either behind the wheel or at the PC. I have a setup at the desk, and one for each vehicle. I can vape away without worrying about battery life. This saves my batteries for use while out and about. Some have noted here that many PC's can't handle the current drain from a PT, so make sure you use an AC or auto adapter that can deliver 1 amp.
3. I have purchased some juices from a local company that sells in some C-stores and smoke shops here in KC (Vaper's Corner). Their Coffee and RY4 have decent flavor, but don't produce much vapor. I paid $10 for 10ml each, but I was eager to taste something different from the standards in my initial kit. I later received some flavors from thevaporpro.com. They had 30ml bottles for $9.99. Cherry, wintergreen, and spearmint all have good flavor and much better vapor. The blend is 60PG/40VG. I am still learning, but have ordered additional flavors, as well as some VG to doctor my existing supply. The lovely bride says it looks like I have a laboratory started here. It will only get worse, as I also have a juice order and some blank carts on the way from Freedomsmoke USA.
4. Refilling the cartos is very easy and makes my new habit much less expensive. Just pop the top, straighten the center tube, and drip in. I have flooded a few, and thought they may have been ruined, but blowing them out and removing the cap and letting them drain brought them back to life. I am still refilling the carts I started on 2 weeks ago. I carry my freshly filled carts in an altoids tin, enjoy a variety of flavors during the day, then top them all off every night. Takes 5 minutes.
5. I have spent roughly $300.00 so far on all of my equipment and supplies. Sounds like a lot, but it is less than the cost of 2 months of analogs. With all the carts and juice I have here and on order, I can likely vape for 6 months or more without spending another dime. I will likely start to reduce nic content over time, and see if I still want to vape. If so, I will likely graduate to one of the better PV's or mods described here.
My sincere thanks to everyone here. As I have read through various postings I am struck by the fact that this is just about the nicest online community I have ever encountered. Folks have their opinions, but are friendly and welcoming.
Cheers!
Otto
