I really enjoyed your story! I read a post written by you in another thread that you talked about having mouth sores and swollen salivary glands. Most recently (6wks.) I've been having these types of problems. Yesterday I was diagnosed with infected salivary glands. Ugh! I've really been scared that this is related to my vaping, which I've been doing for possibly ? 18 months now. Possibly I've acquired a PG allergy? I have not changed my nic level. After smoking for 33 yrs., I thought I'd finally found my answer, but now I'm scared that this is harming me too. :( I would appreciate any advice!

What does your doctor say is the cause? Infections are usually caused by bacteria.

My doc just says that I have infected saliva glands. I am just worried that it is related to the ecig, as I have had so many problems with my mouth since starting the ecig. I didn't tell him that I used the ecig. Where I live, no ones ever heard of it! LOL I do know that infections are caused by bacteria, but often bacteria arrives because an area becomes chronically inflamed and is unable to drain properly. ie; allergies often cause sinus infections Thanks for your reply!!

My perspective is if you've been vaping for 18 months, then whatever symptoms you are experiencing now are not likely due to vaping unless you've changed something about it recently. Have you tried new juices, higher voltage? Are you doing anything different now?

If not, think about everything else you've done recently and if you've made some kind of change. Are you kissing someone new (heh), eating something different, frequenting a new (germy) place? For example, little kids (and the adults who are around them) are huge germ carriers. If you're suddenly around more kids (or adults with kids), it's possible you've caught something. I hate flu season because all the people I work with have kids, and coming to the office is a germ minefield

Hello everyone and thanks for the replies!!! I haven't been able to get on the forums much because of the hectic planning for the wedding. But it's over now and I am happily wed! I had an e-cig in my pocket the whole way through the day and sneaked drags of it as stealthily as I could ;)

kkc1234 did bring something interesting up regarding the infection. As kkc mentioned, I reported in another thread about the swollen glands which could have been an infection. I send kkc a message to chat about that, but one thing I pointed out is the cleanliness factor of e-cigs. If you're like me you put your e-cig in your pocket and pull it out whenever you want a drag. Or you'll set it on a table. Or you might even find it laying on the carpet of your room. Something like that. Unfortunately I must admit I am terrible at keeping it clean so the most I'll do is wipe the tip off on my shirt before taking a drag. I doubt that's an efficient germ-killer.

So what I hypothesize is when the e-cig is in such a diverse amount of places, such as pockets and tables, it can pick up germs quite easily, which then goes right in your mouth. Seems like a very easy way for germs to travel to me. I will be purchasing small sterile wipes to clean off my e-cig more often... But if there was infection involved, I do believe this could be a major cause for it.

I am not a doctor so these are only observations ;) I have not had any complications vaping (other than the occasional canker sore -- must remember to rinse mouth out!) for the past 1.5 - 2 years, so all is very good!

Thanks again everyone for your wonderful remarks. Happy vaping!!!
