Yo guys I bought a kanthal wire and the brand is called UD
It's kanthal wire and I haven't use it yet but when I took a closer look to it
It's kinda grey colour and have some metal smell to it if you rub with your hand like it removes some deposits...
I didn't use it yet after seeing this...
Anyone else used this brand?? Is it poopy????

The last several spools I have went thru have that brand name. I have a 1/2 dozen more of the same. I dry burn my coils before I wick and then use them. The wire seems to work OK for me.

Thanks..
That's nice to know....since u didn't had any bad experience with it.....I always dry burn my coils before use even spaced onces

UD (YOUDE) has been around for awhile.

Some people pull their wire thru a Paper Towel with a couple of drop of Rubbing Alcohol on it to remove any Residual Machine Oils that may be on it prior to Coiling.

Or even do the Entire Spool in One Fell Swoop.

I may try and maybe keep doing that as well as the prior dry burn, but before.. So far (for me), the dry burn voltage/wattage has had to be more than my 'normal use powersetting'. Just as what is pretty much a response to anybody that says or asks "why do you think a dry burn is necessary and needed?", I would say I just need to see how and make sure (almost always so far with just a few tweezes) the wire glows right.. There's the 'removal of residue and unwanted things' too, but that is certainly taking last place in this race (my race)..

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    Yo :D

Like zoi said, clean it and dry burn.

I have to say I have UD Kanthal and Nichrome 80 and they seem to be clean to me. But consistency with these Chinese brands can be very bad so no surprise if yours is dirty, to be honest.

In the future, look for a wire manufacturer in the EU or UK that retails resistance wire. We have one in the USA that a lot of people use (Temco Industrial) but shipping will likely be cost-prohibitive. You're better off buying wire from these types of places IMHO.

Perhaps make a thread asking about resistance wire retail sources in the EU or UK similar to Temco Industrial.

Mine is Temco and very clean. I get a very small burn-off with the first "dry burn" but not much at all.
I use lower wattage (than I expect to use vaping) and pulse it several times (never getting the coil red hot) This gives a good idea of wattage to use when vaping. It's most likely residual oil (as mentioned) Just do like other have suggested and it will be fine.

My Theory is if there is something on the Wire, I would rather Remove it before I Dry Burn/Check for Hot Spots.

I like to Dry Burn at Very Low Wattage. Like 10 Watts for 26ga Wire. I cup my hand around the Deck casting it into shadow. Then as soon as I see the Center Loops tinge Red, I'm Done.

Some of these People on YouTube smash the Power Button till the Entire Coil is Angry Orange boarding on Surface of the Sun Hot. There's Really is No Need to do that. LOL.

BTW - Many times a 10' or 15' spool of Wire that you buy Didn't start life as a 10' or 15' spool.

It started life on a 500' of 1,000' Spool. And then the Retailer Respooled it.

And that Respooling/Handling/Storage can lead to Impurities getting on the Wire.
