Correct, the connector cannot be sealed. Fortunately, there are not many attys with sealed connectors, so most any atomizer will work just fine, it doesn't specifically need to be for bottom-feeders. In fact, some types of bottom-feeder attys are NOT ideal for UFS. I have a couple of Vapage attys that due to their design I would be unable to close off the juice, so they won't work in my UFS (though they do work well in Ody since it uses a different juice control mechanism)

Right -- they've got the little slits above the flange, so there would be nothing to prevent the juice from seeping in and flooding the atty. I thought I could get around the issue by ordering some of Vapage's AMG Hybrids that aren't specific for use in the VMOD to use in my UFS, but unfortunately they don't have the slant coil. Very interesting observation about the AMG BF working in an Ody, though...

They're great attys, but I mostly drip on them (with a drip shield) and they work great in that regard. I figured I'd try them in Ody and they worked pretty well since the juice control on it essentially covers those slots. I still find Ody to be kinda finicky in 510 atty mode, though, so I typically only use my UFS for that application anyway (with standard 510 or 306 attys) and just use my Ody with the rebuildable part

I was curious about the Vapage atties. I see they have different ones. I was going to order the atty that are not bottom feeders. Will these work?

They will work because they still have an open connection (the hole that goes through the brass connector on the bottom). It's just atties with a sealed bottom connection that won't work, and as Killjoy mentioned, they are a little more rare. Your juice comes in through the tiny holes drilled in the sides of the threaded part of the atomizer, and your air comes in through the bottom unsealed connection.
