UFS v2 - out of spec part #6 (collector core)

So I have finally figured out what is wrong with my UFS v2

The collector core is out of spec in that the atomizer threads are not true to the axis of the core. The result is that every atomizer I try to use sits tilted at a ~2 degree angle. As a result, when the fluid control is all the way off there is still a space for fluid to flow in.

Is this a common problem? Has anyone else experienced it?

I'm bummed out that I have to spend $35 to get a replacement part.

That is not true that you have to spend $35 for a replacement part. Imeo has a Lifetime warranty on all of his parts. If you cannot get the part replaced through your normal vendor in Canada, then send Imeo or Bruce at CloudsOfVapor a PM and they will get you fixed up.... Period!!

I am not the original owner. Bought it secondhand. I have already bought the replacement part. It shipped today.

I thought I had that problem too.

I then took off the UFS base and threaded an atty into the connector for a better look.

It was then that I noticed that what I thought was tight, was not tight enough.

One firm twist fixed the malady and all is well now after.

Make sure the atty is seated really firmly in the connector after putting base back on.

I have tightened it as tight as possible by hand and it is still off kilter. To get it any tighter I would need to use tools.

I`d like to see the resuts as well as drilling and threading a piece of metal off axis on a CNC is virtually impossible;maybe something got dropped at some point in time

Martin, I agree.

As I said before, I got this unit secondhand, so I don't know if anything was dropped or otherwise damaged. That's why I ordered the replacement part rather than going straight to a warrantee claim.

I have managed to get it working, but it still isn't quite right. Screwing the atty in while wearing a rubber glove I was able to get the deviance down to about 1 degree. Looking at the concentricity of the atty in the top cap with the o-ring removed, the gap between the atty and the cap is about 1.5mm at the closest point and 2mm at the farthest. Previously it was 1mm and 2.5.

Yeah,I see that;I think I had the same thing with my ody brand new,the mouth piece was off center pretty much the same as yours;I just forced it down a bit and its dead center now...not sure what bent straight but everything seemed to be crrect as I got no leaks and everything diassembles/reassembles perfectly.

UFS is another thing though;is it tilted or off axis?

we concern only if the connector is off axis with the collector tank Tg. I say this because atomizers threads are not always right, maybe atomizer is bended etc. The more the connections, the more the off axis "thing". So if connector is ok via ct then you are ok.

Well, I know that there isn't a problem with the atomizer because it always seats square on other mods I have. I have tried several atomizers with the same result.

I think I may have found the cause of the problem. The counterbore of the 510 socket where the castellations are is not concentric. As a result, two of the castellations are free of threads, one has a little thread on one edge, and one is fully threaded.

Here are some pictures of each castellation, showing where there is thread and where there is none.

Here is a view from the top that shows the difference in the thicknesses of the castellations.

Might be safe to assume that an incompatible thread has been used at some point in time...or an atty has been ripped off of it...bummer.

It doesn't look that way to me. The threads are contiguous, clean and uninterrupted. The counterbore is not concentric.

I've just used a dremel to grind the offending threads off the two castellations and the atty now appears to seat squarely when screwed in. I just have to reassemble to confirm.
