Hi all,

Sorry if this isn't really in the right section of the Forum, but as I'm new to Mechanicals and batteries I thought this would be appropriate.

I've been using my MVP 2.0 and Nautilus Mini and find the two to be a great combination, but have recently had the urge to have a bash at making my own coils and using an RDA. So about a month ago I purchased a couple of IGO-W Plus' as my first RDA's and absolutely love them. I'm currently dripping with them on my MVP 2.0.

So I decided my next step is to get hold of a Mechanical Mod. I purchased a Nemesis clone from Slowtech (as well as some other goodies) and am awaiting it's arrival. I don't have any batteries or charger at the moment.

So my question is, what 18650 IMR batteries would UK vapers recommend? I'm not sure at this point how low I will be going in terms of ohmage so I suppose I want some batteries that have a fairly high amp limit to allow myself to go low if I want to. I'm looking for a couple of batteries (or more, how many would you guys recommend?) that I can order from a UK site that people have used before and can verify that the batteries are authentic.

So in short:

- Does anyone know of any UK site that sells good 18650 batteries, and which batteries should I get?
- Also, possibly a good charger as well? Preferably one with a digital display.
- Anything else that you can recommend that you think I might/will need.

Thanks all!

If you are new to mech mods I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mech mods are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

Thanks Susan~S. I have spent time reading through these blogs, spent enough time (hopefully) researching safety and have a good understanding of Ohms law.

I am hoping that others can point me in the direction of a good set of batteries and where I can get them (UK). It was my understanding that Sony VTC4s and VTC5s were among the best but I can't find them in stock anywhere I look on UK sites.

You won't find Sony VTCs much in the UK. There are lots of fakes on ebay.... (avoid)

Myepack sell Efest Purples and Vape Escape sell Red AWs. Of the two, I'd go with AW myself, as all mine are going strong whereas my old-school red efests are all dead.

I use a Nitecore D2 charger. It's OK.... you can do better I guess, but it's more money.

Thanks for the recommendation djsvapour.

I don't see the 'NEW AW IMR High Drain Batteries' in Baditude's blogs

But I think I'm going to get a couple of those.

Thanks for the response!
