I have the smaller model 650, and it performs very well. The part that I like the most is it acts as a pass-through while the battery is recharging. I think you'll be happy with your purchase.
It says in the manual it will take 300 charges. But if you read the manual nothing in it takes any sense. So far no one has had one long enough to know if the battery can be replaced.
A newer more improved model with more bells and whistles will be out in the market that you just can't resist and will want to buy. I charge mine maybe every day and a half. I have several other PV's so it's not in constant use. I figure it will probably last at least a year. Perhaps someone will come up with a battery that will replace the one that's in there. The improvements in PV's over the last year has been tremendous, and I'm sure many more improvements are on the way.
I'm finding on my 850 that a charge lasts about 2 days of moderate use. I have other PVs that I use around the house with replaceable batteries and tend to find the real shining feature of the ultimo is that I can retract the vision regular into the case and just stick it in my pocket (after shutting it off of course) and take it with me when I go out, so that's what I use it for.
But the price tag is a bit much for 300 charges if your a heavy vapor.
If indeed this works great, I would want to use it regularly. Has Gotvapes got a policy of changing this battery for new, for a fee??
the price has dropped a few bucks from its orignal price, 300 is a estimate. steeljan discussed about changing the battery, she might go into how to replace it.
While a replaceable battery would be nice, I look at it this way: If you charge it about once a day, it'll last you nearly a year. $75ish for a year of use isn't really a lot. If you're a really heavy vaper and need to charge twice a day you'll still get close to six months out of it. That's still only like $12ish a month. Plus it's really cute and the retractable carto feature is awesome.
And correct me if I'm wrong here people, but even after ~300 charges it won't just stop working completely, the battery just won't hold a charge as well, much like an old cell phone and will need to be charged more frequently. I could be totally wrong on that though.
hmm whiskey good question, i think even as the battery degrades it still should work as a pass through, and no we dont offer a battery replacement program but i can get the same batteries form the factory just for customers who want to change it themselves, thats not a issue for me to do for you all
If you were to change the battery yourself it would require soldering skills. So it might not be an option for all. I learned how to solder many years ago. I don't know if anybody remembers Heathkit, I put one of their color televisions together, and it worked. That was back in the mid-70s.
