Thanks to this site I have ordered an Ultra Sonic Cleaner from Amazon and plan to use it in several ways. One of these ways was to mix DIY juice up instead of shaking it by hand like I am doing now. This is the model I have ordered: http://www.amazon.ca/2-5L-Ultrasoni...1414099114&sr=8-3&keywords=ultrasonic+cleaner (wow, long link)

My first question is does this need to be filled with water (or whatever cleaner you are using) to operate. ie: can it be run dry so it does not wash labels off bottels or at least wash the printing off?

My second question is has anybody used one of these to clean coils and tanks/cartos?

Ok, while a newbie here, I have been using UCS's for years to perform a ton of tasks.

1. This will not mix fluid for you. The USC work by making waves in the water to small to 'mix' anything especially a viscus fluid.

2. I don't see why they wouldn't however the main issue being wicking material, I don't know what using a USC is going to solve for you. It isn't going to penetrate the inside of a wick type material better then a good flush or soak in water does. Many USC's you can't use flammable products in (but depends on what you planned to clean with)....

Simply USC's use microscopic bubbles to scrub the surface of a hard object, I guess I fail to see what that would do for items other then that many of which are involved in vaping.

I think the ultra sonic waves help "blend" the liquid faster and possibly better than hand shaking to reduce the steeping time as flavours blend together.
Sometimes I think I want to use it as a warm water bath and mixing, while other times just to mix. Like the next day after making a new batch I would just use it as a vibrator to speed up the steep time.

I use my ultrasonic cleaner for tons of things. It does need liquid to work though, so it won't mix your juice without being submerged. I just tried it on one of my clearomizers this morning and it worked very well to get everything out. I did a 5 minute cycle with very hot water, then another 2 minute cycle with fresh hot water as a finish cleaning. Removed menthol flavor juice from everything and made it taste new again.

You got a good one. :)

It won't be as effective running it dry. Especially if you want to use the heating option to accelerate the aging process - water is required.

Just work with some form of waterproof labels Or try covering your labels with a cover of clear packing tape.

My second question is has anybody used one of these to clean coils and tanks/cartos?

It works well for cleaning all sorts of e-cig parts. But in the greater scheme of things not much really helps to clean a carto.

I have had excellent results using a dremel tool as a mixer (with great care of course). I saw a video were a DIYer used a plastic Q-Tip (with the cotton ends removed) and then split one end 4 ways to make a mixing tool - I tried that but didn't find it durable so I made one out of metal with great care to make sure it was properly balanced and could do high speeds with no wobble (mine goes up to 35,000 RPM although I would never try to use a speed that high for mixing). In 20 or 30 seconds at 20,000 RPM it actually makes a PG/VG/Nic mixture very cloudy for a while it mixes it so well, with the end submerged so there is no splashing or spiling. Best technique I have found to mix very thoroughly. If you have a dremel tool you can try the plastic Q-tip method first (at 10,000 RPM and below so it doesn't fly apart) and I think you'll be impressed at how well it works - I was. Just like a kitchen mixer but a lot faster rotation.

I use one to clean coils, tanks, drip tips, etc. I have not steeped juice with it but have read that people put the juice in plastic bag or put the label on afterwards. It works very well for me. I do heat my water before putting it in the UC since my UC does not have a built in heater.

BTW- Do not use anything but clean water. No chemicals.

That is an excellent idea. I have a hard plastic cog wheel that will fit nicely in my dremel and will fit in my 30ml bottles. Thanks
