I'm tired of my cartos lasting only a day or two. I hear that some people can make them last weeks! I'v been using heavily flavored and sweetened juice so maybe the flavoring and/or sweetener is what is doing it. I have a friend who uses KBV warm sugar cookie and says her cartos last 2 weeks! I had some back awhile ago and did notice that my carto (with it in it) lasted much longer than usual. (I would imagine warm sugar cookie is heavily sweetened and flavored so maybe I'm wrong.) But KBV is rather expensive compared to diy.

So..

I'm experimenting. I've been diying for several months now. I mainly mix chocolate and vanilla (and different variations of both).

I'm going to try to vape unflavored in a carto and see how long my carto (performancewise) lasts. I mixed some 75%PG 25%Vg at 12mg. (I usually vape 10mg)

I filled a carto and let it sit for a half hour or so.

I vaped.

Hey! it's not at all bad! It has a light, sweet, almost caramel flavor to it. And, I've never had any luck with any caramel flavor! I really like it. It's a lot better than some of the stuff I've mixed with flavoring LOL. With 25%VG, the vapor is awesome in a 1.7 resurrector on a 3.7 Old Goat.

Now lets see how long I can use this carto (with refilling and bottomfeeding) before it gets to where its no longer any good. (tastewise and performancewise)

It sure would be less expensive it I keep liking it and the carto would last at least a week.

Yikes! your cartos only last a week?! Mine last me months (avg 6-8 weeks w/daily use) and they are LR too! I've actually never tried vaping unflavoured. Hmmm....

What kind of cartos do you use and what kind of juice. That's a really long time.

One of my juices lasts a long time- nhalers juice. It's clear, PG. My cartos do last a long time with that particular juice. Not 8 weeks though.

My Mom's only last a couple days with her BWB. She doesn't care though because she likes the juice.

I'm considering trying some unflavored myself.

i have been vaping unflavored for about 4 months now. Got tired of spending money to find a flavor I really liked at a cheap price. Found only one flavor I didnt get tired of (Mt Do from the vapor room) but it is too expensive cuz I vape it like its going out of style lol But the unflavored is great! I dont have any real concerns about flavoring as far as health, but vaping unflavored takes that issue off the table. I like the cleanness of it. dont have to worry about getting tired of it either. no flavor lol and the nicotine is what i really need and as long as i get a throat hit i am good. it's a heck of alot cheaper too since i got a big gallon of free VG (search ECF for more info - dont remember where I got it) and all i buy now is a bottle of nic juice 48mg/ml 250 ml when they go on sale at gourmet vapor for 50% off which seems to be about every 4 months (?) everyone should try it for a few days, just to see if it is worth it to you. good luck with your experiment! May your vaping be long lasting!

I'm really liking this unflavored! But it does have a flavor. I just can't name it. It's sweet.. very light.. it's good in a boge carto but we'll have to wait and see how long that lasts. Maybe I've just been adding too much flavor to my juices. If I wasn't trying to experiment on how long it will give positive results in a carto I'd be tempted to add just a drop of flavor. I've heard that less is more and I think now that beginning diyers should maybe start out with unflavored and add one drop at a time.

To say that I am pleasantly surprised is a gross understatement!

A week? noooo a couple days at best! A week would be wonderful! one..ONE cartos last 6-8 weeks? Do you clean it anytime during those weeks? I've cleaned mine by boiling and then putting them in rice but still can only get another day out of them. WoW!

I don't typically vape just unflavored. But I have noticed what you said about some juices causing equipment issues much faster. What I tend to do is put one fill with flavor (though I mostly use clearos or the like) then subsequent fills are unflavored. It works well for me, and seems to be much cheaper in the long run, especially for darker juices like coffee.

I've hit a snag in my experiment. this morning I'm vaping along on the unflavored.. I go to take another draw and nothing. My carto has died. Just quit. I've never had this happen before, not with a carto. Now for the last week or so I've been having problems with my 901 attys. 3 of them have died just like my carto this morning. I only used them for a day or less and then they just stop. So now I have 3 attys and one carto that have just died with no warning. This has to be battery related. Not juice related. I'm using aw imr batts in box mods, that's the only common element in this scenerio. so I took out the battery and set it aside and won't use it for awhile.

I just filled a new carto with the unflavored to start again.

I hate riddles like this! It seems that here lately I'm always having to isolate different parts of my vaping to see what is causing a problem. If it's not one thing it's another!

As Swedishfish asked, what size/kind cartos are you using?
I went from these:
KR808d-1 Blank Cartomizers
to these:
iGo Cartomizers

The Igo cartos are great because you can easily remove the stuffing to wash it throughly.
I use one of these for at least a week before I wash it. I'm only vaping 2 flavors at the moment. Hypnotic Mist and Vanilla Cupcake. They don't gunk up the coil as much as a chocolate would.

I've done this discovery about unflavored e-liquid about two months ago. Not bad at all, at least you should consider unflavored as one more flavor to try. for now however I mix 80% of unflavored with 20% of flavored (e-liquid, not flavoring). I get very subtle flavor which is good for me. And my eGo Mega Dual Coils just keep working and working for weeks w/o any cleaning.

I'm using 1.7 resurrectors from ccv (boge). I bookmarked the igo cartos, and might just give them a try.. thanks!

Yes *one* carto lasts 6-8 weeks. I use V4L Wow blanks. I only vape my own juice now as I've been doing for at least a year now. My own juice is mostly VG where the only PG comes from the flavouring which can go all the way up to 25%.

I never wash cartos anymore. I just fill them up in the morning and drip into them throughout the day to keep the filler moist. (Not nearly as often as if I was using a horrid 3 piece. I keep a drip tip on the carto so every 2-4 hours when I notice the filler is dry on top.) If the flavour is a little wonky then I purposely overfill them and let the excess drain out the bottom till all the darker juice is gone. Then I throughly wipe them down to make sure no excess juice is lingering on the connectors and good to go.

There are two cartos I use on a daily basis. One I fill with a cherry flavour and the other is my fruit carto that can have kiwi, strawberry, raspberry, FA forest mix, and I'll sometimes just dump whatever flavour of vanilla into it as well depending on what I want to taste that day. I don't wash the carto inbetween flavours since I kinda like the continual transition of always tasting something a bit different.

Here's a pic of my current cherry carto that is currently about 4-5 weeks old. So much so the label is peeling off.

WoW! Thanks for the info! Here's another carto I'm adding on my list of things to try. What kind of threading is this carto? And do you know the resistance? It looks like your using a standard 510 batt.

KR808D-1 resistance is 2.2ohm batt is the v4l manual xl which runs between 4.2-3.7v depending on how much charge is left on the batt though I rarely use them to the bottom of the charge. I never wanted much to bother with mods and this device still remains my fave. I only keep a 510 around for sampling. I'd go nuts with a 510 cuz I can drain a standard 510 batt in about 1-1.5 hrs of sampling!
