Part of my pre-game strategy is to go around and see if I can find brick and mortar store's locally that can supply me in case I screw the learning curve up and end up short on supplies.

I have been amazed at the literal lack of knowledge at every place I have found E-cig products. As a RULE I get "yeah someone brought some stuff in and they read the box while talking to me. "Yeah I think its rechargeable" The place I went yesterday said and I quote " these are the cigs. But they brought the wrong stuff to use (liquid) I think the need these filter thingys"

I attempted to (even though I haven't got my first one yet) educate them a little. But its just to much info to share with a busy clerk. I would think that someone would spend some time. Maybe make a very, very simple card explaining the basics that could be handed out to these people.

IMHO its scary to think they are the gateway to the general public. Well them and the news.

Ever walk into Best buy and ask which CD/DVD burner has the best features? It goes something like:

Me: I'm eyeballing these two DVDRW drives and was wondering if either or both support Fixed Packet, Variable Packet, TAO, SAO, DAO, Random Access Write, Incremental, sequential recording, restricted overwrite, Layer Jump recording, Raw Mode Burning & Over-Burn, or Dual Layers?

Best buy guy: Yeah, they both go in your computer and play DVDs!

Me: Yeah but I'd like to know what types of recording they are capable of.

Best Buy guy: Wanna buy some ink?

To modify a popular altruism a bit, "you get what they pay for". Retail salesmen are paid next to nothing, so you end up with salesmen for whom "next to nothing" is the best they can do. People who know what they're talking about can get better jobs elsewhere, and those who are paid crap to sell electronics are given no incentive to learn anything about the product they sell. Retail chains don't care what you buy, as long as you buy something from them. If their clientele were educated, they'd probably buy online instead, and if their salesmen were educated (and honest), they'd tell them to do the same.

E-cigs are like most electronic devices - most people have no idea how they work or what makes one different from another. Most people don't even know what questions to ask, so most salesmen don't feel the need to know the answers.

Dude, that's the GEEK SQUAD, you can't mess with the Geek Squad. :D

The only local shop that even has any type of Ecig is the local head shop, Moon.. and all they had was the njoy. With prefilled tobacco flavored cart refills only, no other forms of happy joy drops. I talked to the guy about it, but I got the vibe that that was all they were ever going to have since he did know more than I did about that particular model at least, but didn't allude to ever getting deeper in.

My brother said that a liquor store by his house was selling a e-cig package for 700.00 dollars. When he asked where I got mine I said on line and payed 39.00 for one kit and 48.00 for the KR-808 kit. He gave me this look. I asked what was in the package he said a house charger, a USB charger, a carring case, two e-cigs, (probably two batteries and 2 atty's) and a box of catriges. I laughed and told him not to touch it cause its a rip off. I can't believe any one would be dumb enough to pay 700.00.

Funny stuff. And true. Most items I buy I research the crap out of on the web. Go into the store and the clerks are "What, Huh"

Very true, I agree 100% I am just saying it looks like a lot of very creative types are here posting. I would think someone could come up with a little clever (maybe cartoony) card with some basic E cig truths to help the cause. Something they could read on the crapper or when they are supposed to be waiting on people but arent.

Then we could throw them around (the cards) as we see fit to further the cause brothers and sisters.

I think to much. Its my ADHD.

Like I was saying the clerk didnt know what FHR rating on a water heater was and I said "Consumer reports says it the most important rating" And they said Huh.

The problem is, like with electronics, there is much more information required to make an informed purchasing decision than you can fit on a little card. I am very knowledgeable with regards to computers and electronics, and I learn quickly. But it still took me a day or two of rummaging around these forums before I had a good handle on ecigs, what they were about and what the different options are. It's a lot of information.

If you want to hand something out, it should be three or four simple yet important bullet points, and a URL (and maybe a QR code) pointing here.
