I'm at the beginning of day 5 100% stinkstick free. About midday on day 3 all my vapes started to taste bad. They smell great in their clearos and if I drag and hold in my mouth and exhale from there they smell an taste good. If I inhale all the way into my lungs, the taste on the exhale is awful about 1/2 the time - like the smell of a burnt filter if you've ever lit the wrong end of a regular cig. Had a vaping friend check my setup and she said it tasted fine.

I read a book to my nephew a few years ago (Grossology) that mentioned that people who smoke have bad breath even when they are not smoking due to the gunk in their lungs. I'm wondering - could this be why my vapes taste bad on the exhale - inboud they are flavored yum, outbound they are water vapor tinged with lung ick?

Kinda the only explanation I've been able to think of. Pretty sure it's not vaper's tongue because everything tastes fine if I don't inhale into the lungs... Any advice or recos welcome!

All my flavors are 60/40 PG/VG and I top off my clearos during the day since I want to stretch them a bit. Nics vary from 24 (thought I needed it when I bought starter setup but the TH on it is far too harsh for my liking), to 16 (still hits a little hard and I use it to tone down a 24 flavor I have) to 11, which seems to be my happy place from a vapor and a nicotine standpoint.

Being a new nonsmoker I think technique is definitely a part of the problem - I tend to automatically inhale direct to the lungs and am working on the retraining the brain bit. I read the above thread about inhalation technique (THANK YOU NGAHaze for the excellent link!). Tried a couple of my vapes with better technique and it is better, but darker liquids still taste foul on the exhale, even if I don't inhale it into my lungs (sucks, since I thought I loved this one coffee flavor and bought a 30ml bottle and it's the one that is the worst tasting).

I can't seem to not inhale at all, if I just hold the vapor in the mouth and exhale it feels... wrong, less satisfying. I'm pretty sure part of that is the fact that I was a 20 year clove smoker and the eugenol in cloves encourages big deep drags (or is that just me, too?).

So - Guess I need to work on my technique?
