So I picked up a very nice unregulated box mod from a local B&M today and so far I am very pleased it!! After an evening of good vaping I popped the batteries out for a night on the charger.....well, one was still fully charged and the other was at 3.55V. Is there something wrong with the wiring on this box or is this how they usually act?

Doesn't seem right....

No, it's not normal. It means it's only using one of the batteries.

Here's a copy of your picture with a couple of additions to it:

The positive battery contacts should be wired together and the same for the negative contacts as per the arrows. Are they?

It's a mechanical mod, so I'm thinking what is in the white circle is a fuse, but I'm in no way sure and I'm confused by what I think is a resistor. If you could get a reasonably clear and sharp close up of that area it would probably really help.

Also, IMO that switch is not up to any high power current flow.

That white circle could be mosfet set up like the diagram in this thread:

It looks like a 1590B box which is larger than the 1590G box and the circled area is the mosfet. The resistor is so it shuts off when the switch is released. If it didnt have a resistor the mosfet would keep firing after releasing the switch but with the mosfet it doesnt put mega power thru the switch making it much safer I would check the solder connections on the battery sled. Sounds like it is using only one battery but it looks good to me. Clean build. If you want to know more about boxes like that join the FB group Box Modders but be warned, they are a wild group that keeps me laughing all the time but they also know what they are doing with builds like this.

They are wired together on both the positive and negative sides. He just soldered the wire over both connections on the negative and positive.

What would make it discharge from just one battery if both batteries are sharing that same connections?? Possibly one of the batteries isn't making good contact? I put one battery in each slot on the sled and the mod fired with no issues.

Can you post pics detailing the ends of the sled. Cant tell what is going on there for sure without it. need to see if its in series or parallel. And it is "home made" box, its suppose to look that way and it appears like it was built properly, it is very tidy inside they built it well but need some more pics . Also need the battery information what are they do they match and what was the voltage on both you only list 1.

In that case my feeling is you're right and it's a battery not making contact inside the battery sled. I would put one battery in it and take a voltage reading across the sled contact surfaces for the other battery position. If you get no voltage the battery that's in place is not making both contacts.
