So....as I view all of the threads and gain useful information into this new world which I adore, I am still on the quest to furthering my knowledge because I LOVE IT! Hehe. But..I have read and discussed in various forums about us liquid vs overseas liquid and my question is this: many vapers say that there are great companies overseas. There are also untapped ones or ones people do not really know much abt. I am wondering, other than a pretty site what makes an eliquid company a company you would buy from without knowing it? I was told that the liquid nicotine has certificates and bc the market is unregulated, what makes a company legit and how do you determine if that info is real and not fake? Have there been any companies that you tried on a whim and liked/disliked?

I think this is an interesting question! :2c:

I like to know who I am buying from.

I avoid companies based on their offerings... At this point in the evolution of ecigs... if someone is going into business and has a line of unoriginal, uninspired flavors... I avoid them... I think.... wow... they really don't know much about the market if they think they can crack into the market doing nothing unique...

I avoid companies based on their e-liquid descriptions and self-disclosure... if they claim their juices are so great tasting and so revolutionary... but can't provide one detail about how they create their flavors... I avoid... and when you click on the about me link and get no sense of who these people are... I avoid.

I avoid companies that no one has ever heard of...

I avoid companies that aren't involved with an ecig community somewhere... ecf isn't the entire world ;-) there are other internet and Brick and Mortar communities...

The thing is... there are so many companies out there... and there have been... I have witnessed members on this site start to DIY then become businesses.

I am not terribly nervous about certification, sourcing, safety concerns etc... I mean... sure... I don't want to vape dangerous stuff... but I trust my intuition... for now anyway...
because I avoid most vendors ;-)

I look for companies through word of mouth... when I see a lot of people involved in a love fest for a company... it wakes up my interest.
I look at their site.... their offerings... I look at who these folks are... I find out how they make their liquid... I always try to find out where they get their flavorings... and then maybe I'll bite...

I don't look for untapped sources and companies... if they are that untapped... then they obviously don't have any connection to vaping communities... and I label them as undesirable...

I have been on this forum for a few years and these types of threads always pop up... some people are over-zealous about their safety concerns... and I suppose I was at first too...

...but now... I have been vaping long enough... and I can sense if something is worth trying.

The other day, you asked about Clearette.

...and that's a great example.

they look like a sound corporate investment ;-) They have the legal lingo down... they have a snappy name that sounds like it was created by a pharmaceutical company.

Their site is professional, uncluttered and clean...

If I were an investor who didn't vape... I think... wow... that looks great...

But... the price is pretty high for something that makes little effort to distinguish itself in a competitive market...

...and the name sounds more suitable for a decongestant or liquid for your eyes... or possibly a laxative.

Every time I hit my credit card for a $20+ Bottle of liquid from a new company, it because there is something compelling me to try it...

This month it was:
A T O N E M I N T --- specially crafted base for the discerning menthol vaper... website was personable. They answered emails promptly. Other members on this site I have known for a fe wyears gave it a thumbs up...

Quacks... --- small product line. Excellent bio info... These people were vapers themselves... community respect... they have a following of legitimate people in the vaping community... UNIQUE FLAVOR - had to try it.

Vapor Chef - I remember them when they started... witnessed them grow... lots of friends using them... lots of disclosure on website...

Companies I didn't buy from...
Too numerous to list ;-)
Not confident in who they are.

If I was a new company trying to break into the market - I would seek to be connected to it somehow... I'd ask for feedback... I'd allow my fans to participate somehow.... I'd put a real face and a name to it ---

I'd be open about my inspiration and HOW I make my liquid.

I would make an effort not to appear too corporate.

I am pretty new to this and have been asking similar questions. Here is my take so far: reputation. You can analyze a vendor's website and get an idea if they know what they are doing, but anyone can build a website and copy/paste someone else's work. You can look at the documents they provide regarding the purity and quality of their ingredients, but not much I have seen is really worth the virtual paper it is printed on, if you are looking for actual proof.

You could theoretically buy products from a zillion vendor's and try them and send each one to a laboratory for full analysis, but not many of us have the time, resources, and motivation to do that. If you can actually visit the place where the juice is made and observe the operations, that would be great, but that is not feasible for me at least. You can call around to vendors you are considering and ask them about their methods and products, but a lot of people can talk a good game when it comes to making a buck.

So what is left? Reputation, and finding something you like the taste of and that doesn't do weird things to you, like cause irritation or make you feel stoned or something. So really, reputation is the first and best tool available. If you have friends that vape, talk to them. And of course this forum is the best place to check out a vendor's reputation; there are literally thousands of opinions you can check out. The only issue there is that people's opinions differ, and with so many opinions, it can be hard to find clear direction.

But there is some truth to the safety in numbers philosophy. If a huge number of people like something and continue to use it without ill effects, that is a better bet than trying something no one else has heard of. But in the end, you will still be taking your chances, so use all of the tools at your disposal.

lots of good vendors heading to florida... or in florida...
not a great name by any means ;-) but I do like some flavors from Innevape a lot - I am vaping heisenberg right now, and I like vulcan blood, their tobaccos... want2vape, moondrop is now in florida... clouds of vapor, totally wicked, ... hurricane - these are just a couple... Florida really seems to be booming with vape businesses. moondrop, w2v and innevape all have unique tobacco blends like no other places I have tried...
