Hey everyone, this post is a continuation of my original introduction to vaping post. Original post link below
What I have learned - Something for newcomers
I would like to update my opinions and what I have learned and recommend to newcomers.
Hardware:
As I said in my first post, I started with Blucigs but ended up hating them and moved to the Halo G6. I still like Halo equipment, but because of the size, the battery life isnt great. I have since moved on to eGo batteries. If you are new, and want something that is a similar size to a cigarette, get the Volt, or Halo starter kit. Something that you can fill yourself. It will save you money over prefilled carts. If you are ok with having something bigger (i was not at first) then I recommend that you get an eGo battery. They are very common, and have an all day battery life (depending on your habits). Also, from my experience, most people start with cigarette equivalent devices and then move to eGo batteries, and from there, mods. So if you dont mind something bigger, you could save yourself some money and skip a step
This is what I purchased from a local store for $17.

I have since purchased an eGo C Twist so I have two batteries, and the twist gives me the option of changing the voltage.
Carts/Clearomizers:
I personally do not like cartomizers anymore. They are great at first. Easy to fill and easy to use, but I find that I need to buy them often and they can burn out quick do to inconsistencies in manufacturing. I would recommend using a Mini Vivi Nova tank. They are really well made, and I have had zero problems with leaking. They come with 3 atomizer heads that are easily removed and can be cleaned by running the wicks under water. Just dab them dry with a paper towel, and you are usually good to go. There are many many tanks out there. Some better and some are worse than the Nova tanks so I feel that they are a good starting point. The cost effectiveness of the tanks are great. I have had my first tank for a couple months now and it is still going strong. If I take care of the atomizer heads, by cleaning them regularly, I can get at least a month out of them before I want to replace them. And as a bonus, the tanks can help you learn more about voltage and resistances due to the three different heads that come with it.
E-liquid:
It is all about the vendor.
I am unsure where the whole "PG is for flavor and throat hit" and "VG is for vapor production only" came from, but after trying 30+ flavors from 6 different vendors I have found that it all depends on the juice. By that I mean, those rules are true to a point, but is not something that is true for all juices. I have had pure VG juices that burn my throat like a cigarette, and pure PG juices that have no throat hit at all. I have had 70%PG and 30%VG blends that produce more vapor than I ever would have expected. So it all depends on the flavor that you buy, and how much the vendors need to add to the mixture to give you an accurate flavor.
My personal preference for mixes is 50/50 or something close to 60/40 PG vs VG. I do like my vapor
I also like those mixes because the liquid is thinner and burns easier... but that being said, I have had a pure VG flavor that was really really thin and burned quick. So again, its all about the flavor you buy.
These are my 3 favorite stores
Highbrow Vapor
Their stuff is delicious and the customization that they allow and encourage is great. They want you to be creative. Their prices are great too considering the quality and customization factor.
Tasty Vapor
Great juice. Lots of flavors. Really good price. Also, if you are ever in Oakland CA, they have an actual store you can go to (thats pretty rare in the SF bay area). They have weekly sale flavors at the store that you can sample that are only $11 for 30ml.
Virgin Vapor
If you want blueberry that tastes like a blueberry then go here. All natural and organic flavors that taste like the real thing. I havent had any flavor from this site that tastes artificial.
There are so many vendors out there making juice. So do a little research and try a few sample bottles to find your "go to" place. These three might help point you in the right direction of what kind of juice you are looking for.
So that about wraps it up. This is what I have learned and these are the products that I trust and use after almost half a year of vaping.
Thanks for reading and I hope this helps
