I was looking for a new battery and instead of getting a backup for my current 1300mah vv spinner, I would like the 1300mah to be a backup for maybe something better.

I've been looking around but as all of you know there's so much stuff out there. I'm looking for something that's similar sizewize to what I have now. I don't want to go too much thicker or longer but i'm open if it's worth it. Some sort of battery meter would also be nice but not required. Any suggestions?

Ummm, pen/cigar style system, about the only one that pops to mind would be the innokin iTaste V3. Though it is only a 900mah battery, has a lot of features, Variable volt and Variable watt, ohm meter, battery level indicator, accepts 510, and Ego Cone attachments, and is USB passthrough.

Imfire has made a good suggestion, most advanced PV's use the 18350, 18650 batteries, and they are bigger around because of this. The 1300 mah Spinner is a nice size battery, I have one and love it. The only thing I have that is close in size to it is the Sigelei Zmax Mini, slightly shorty, but bigger around. However it only uses 18350 batteries, which usually run around 800 Mah.

Ryedan has a good question, maybe if state what features you like, someone might post the perfect solution. Oh, and the Spinner will make an excellent backup to whatever you get, wishing you the best.

Both suggestions have actually been ones I have been looking at (itaste vv3 and sigelei zmax mini). I've only been vaping for a little while (been a little over 2 weeks since an analog) so i'm not sure about the larger investment in a zmax until i'm sure i'm going to stick with it. Is the price difference worth it from the itaste vs the zmax? I have an idea of the size of the itaste, but how much bigger is the zmax mini?

No specific features in mind, but would like to get something better than I have now.

There is better stuff out there. To stay the same size of what you have is limited though. The itaste vv/vw 3 is an 800mah battery that you can use as a passthrough as well. It's not a true passthrough though, it needs to charge for a bit once it's dead and then can be used. It doesn't draw power from usb, only battery.

If you go fasttech.com there is an itaste svd for 37 and change with free shipping. Add some batteries and a charger and good to go (will take 2 or 3 weeks to get to you though). Or a vamo v3 for a little cheaper. These are mods and the size of a flashlight. the first one mentioned is smaller and square like, but does most of what the mods do except 11 watts is highest instead of 15 watts with stacked batteries. You can use the mod at home and the spinners for out and about. my two cents.

Just some general observations that might eventually help you with your decision for a new piece:

  • Generally speaking, a bigger battery is going to give better overall performance. mAh ratings can be useful, but they can also be deceiving. An wider 18350 700 mAh battery will probably give you better performance than a slimmer 14500 700 mAh battery, despite both having the same mah rating. Knowing this, you need to decide whether slightly better performance or form factor is more important to you.

  • Most of us who have been vaping for a while end up having more than a couple of setups. Whether this is due to disappointment with initial items and experimenting with others, searching for better performance or form factor; or it becomes a hobby in addition to an alternative nicotine delivery system. My point here is you'll likely have at least a few battery devices by year's end as you continually search for "a better vape".

  • Consider form factor when choosing your battery device. A mod typically will have a larger variety of juice delivery devices available to it than an eGo battery will, simply because of the diameter differences. Same holds true for slimmer and wider mods - a wider diameter mod will be able to carry a larger capacity delivery device without looking freakish.

  • Seems obvious, but needs to be said: A smaller or shorter device will be more pocket/purse friendly than a larger/longer one. Smaller/shorter when out-&-about may require carrying a spare battery or two to last for however long you will be away from home. Or, a bigger mod (usually meaning a bigger battery) will have the convenience of not requiring spare batteries because it can last all day.

  • Don't overlook considering a box mod. Although tube mods are more common, box mods can be very pocket-friendly and are comfortable to hold in your hand while you vape. Some box mods called bottom-feeders are self contained (juice inside) making them very mobile and rugged.

what do you want to "upgrade"........battery time, power, more bells and whistles, what?

If zmax is too expensive to try, I guess you could upgraded 1/2 step and most cheaply to a simple Ego 18650 battery. See how you like that, they are often selling in the classies here for about $12-15.

At any rate, get verified if you aren't already, that way you can shop in the classies here, but you can also sell a mod that you get and dn't like. :)

I was feeling the same as you, I was using a spinner and a few other egos. I bought a zmax mini, and I love it. I wasn't ready to pay the price for a provari just yet. I'm not exactly sure of the size on the itaste, but looking at pics it appears to be about the same size as my 1300 spinner. I have been extremely happy with my zmax. It is thicker than the spinner, but fits well in my fairly small hands.
Pic for comparison, 1000mah twist, 1300 mah spinner, zmax mini.

Miarose thanks for the compare shot. It looks like the zmax mini isn't as large as I thought. May I ask where you got yours? Is it a smok or sigelei? All the places i'm lookin don't have a plain steel or black colored zmax mini, or its out of stock.

How big is a regular zmax in 18350 mode?

Mine is a sigelei. I got it at exhalevapors.com but it appears they are all out.
zmax mini by sigelei has it in black
Sigelei Zmax Mini cheaper than ^ but no black/silver. (5% off coupon as well: gotsmok5)

Hopefully someone can chime in with the answer to your question, because I have no idea :p

Thanks Miarose. I placed an order last night for a blue sigelei mini.

So you know if they make extension caps incase I wanted to put a 18650? I think the smok zmax did i'm not sure if they made them for the sigelei

congrats! i hope you like it :)
i want a light blue one... oh so tempting!
i honestly have no idea about the extension caps, i like that mine is small as possible. if you're worried about the18350 batteries, i seem to get a days worth of use of moderate vaping. but i always have my spinners chargers and a passthrough on hand ;)

Got the dark blue Sigelei Mini here, and loving it. I have a V2 Sig Zmax too, got it before all the telescope and mini zmaxes came out. Love the V2 also. I also have the 1300 mah Spinner, like it very much, mostly used as an away from home device, but really a great battery to have around.

Hope you like your mini as much as I like mine, and you will be happy you got a spare battery. One word of advice, if you plan on carrying a spare 18350 with you, get one of the plastic battery cases. Very cheap and the peace of mind is well worth it. You don't want to be the person who has a battery go into meltdown mode in your pocket.

Yay! A mod recommendation complete with a safety tip! Also, good chargers are cheap, worth it.
