Apparently, we Mackems have our own rhyming slang - or so I'm informed by emigrees from North of the hallowed water.

Or maybe we're just an imitative lot, or find ourselves in need of conversation with southerners, and have had to adopt their patois in order to be understood. I could, should denizens of these environs so desire, converse in Mackem (or, as it's known locally, "pitmatic"), but, I'd posit, would be almost completely unable to be understood.
