I. Can't prove it...the passthrough wasn't plugged in at the time but tried to start up my computer yesterday there was a pop and then a flash of light from the USB port I have been using for the passthrough. Took the comp to geek squad with the warranty and was told the motherboard was probably fried. Could be a coincidence but I wont be using the passthough on my computer again

oooh Uncle JaR how annoying for you! :( If the PT wsn't plugged in btw it is unlikely it caused the error - the very very slight possibility that one may short out does include it being plugged in lol. It sounds like a nasty co-incidence, still I always recommend the AC/USB wall adapters as they are pretty cheap and can be used with a variety of devices that use a USB connector so its not just a one-shot one use item. You can also buy them in most good electrical stores, but the one I linked can do up to 2amps which means its not afraid of 5v PT; so if you get a different one make sure its a 2amp one :)

I love my USB pass-through, but my motherboard is worth a heck of a lot more. I don't know the answer to your question, but I hear there "could" be a problem so that's enough for me. I bought an AC/USB adapter to plug the pass-through into the house current and a Cigarette Lighter/USB adapter for using it in the car. Make sure the adapters you buy are rated at 2 AMP. I got mine from NHaler for about 10 bucks each. They work great so far!
