I received in a swap, a USB wall adapter which I wanted to use with my 808 passthrus.

Evidently, it is a USB wall adapter from a Joye 510 kit, and now I am wondering if that's the reason it will not work with my 808 PTs. The USB wall adapter's light DOES come on when I plug it in, but I get no results when I put in either of my 808 PTs.

So, USB wall adapters are not "universal"?

I think the most helpful thing i can say is that its probably too low amp to get a pt to work , most USB wall charger are something like 0.5 amps if i'm not mistaken , and for a PT to work you need at least 2 amps. I'm no expert on PT's but I'm pretty sure someone will chime in and confirm or infirm this info.

Illuminatu's right, it's almost certainly going to be too low a power rating.

The USB wall adapter I've used for the past year is the IQ dual USB 2A, sold at Walmart online. Walmart.com: iQ-Power Dual USB AC Power Adapter: iPods & MP3 Players $10, free shipping if you have them deliver it to a local Walmart.

With a 2A USB supply, you can use cartos with resistance as low as 2.5 ohms.

I have a V4L.com usb pass thru kr80 it works fine with 808 cartos and 901 atty, but when I thread the 510 adapter on and try to use my 510 dual coils one is a 1.8ohm and the other is a 2.4ohm it does nothing. I also tried a 1.5ohm single coils atty, same thing, nothing. any ideas!? pm's appreciated! BTW, I am using a powered usb 2.0 hub.

Well I've learned you can't just go with just using Ohm's Law on some assumed 'specs'.

I have those same adapters, I think they are, they look identical. I bought them cheap last year.

This is my heavy duty PT.

The ohms and the voltage was measured, the AMPs calculated.

The top pic makes sense, an expected result. You would expect some drop from the 2000mAh output of the adapter at the atty. But how about the bottom pic with the Smok DC carto? Same 2000mA (2A) adapter at work.

So newer folks understand with no load the voltage reads ~5.13 which is typical USB (within spec) voltage. This is also a true PT, not a mis-named battery device with a charging circuit.

Over driving the power supply, you are getting a classic voltage sag as it drops voltage until it can supply enough current.
No guaranty that any given supply will do that, many just gag and do nothing. Also likely to make the supply die early.
Operating a ps outside of spec is not recommended.

I paid $3.80 shipped for them, been using that pair that way for months. Vaping for me is intermittent, like I smoked. I expect they will last quite awhile, far longer than any of the pseudo-PTs with batteries that cost much more.

The point of the post was to show how useless estimates of performance can be, things need to be measured. I also have a switching, regulated 2.5A PS. Those can be found quite cheaply on eBay. It runs the DC at a slightly lower voltage than the IQ.
